Moon’s Nodes and Saturn conjoined in Synastry – One Case

One of my regular readers asked:

“Could you explain a little bit more about the south node between partners. If I’m correct my south node in Scorpio conjunct’s my partner’s Saturn, and his south node in Sag conjuncts my Saturn & Mercury. Typically the south node scares me, Lol. Should I be worried?”

As with everything is astrology, the answer is particular to these two individuals. Yes, I know . . . “That’s an Answer?!” I will start by taking a quick look at their personal planet synastry. She’s a very Sagittarius Sun person with Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Uranus and Ascendant in Sagittarius. Her Moon is in Aquarius and all this equals a spontaneous, outgoing, forward looking individual. Her partner has his Sun in Leo and Moon in Aquarius. Right away we see these two not only have Suns trine but Moons conjoined – very compatible.

They do have Mercury square with hers in Sagittarius and his in Virgo. However these are Mutable signs and though there may be differences in their approach to problem solving and expression, they may enjoy these occasionally heated discussions. We are talking two Fire sign Suns here!

They have good chemistry with her Mars in Scorpio sextile his Venus in Virgo, and his Mars in Scorpio semi-sextile her Venus in Sagittarius. Note that both have Mars in Scorpio and from the perspective of a person who shares this aspect with her S/O, I see this is a real plus!

The Saturn/South Node aspects go like this . . . her Saturn/Mercury are conjoined with his South Node/Vertex and her South Node/Pluto is conjoined with his Saturn. Naturally she went “whoa!” Yes, that set of aspects looks like there is a deep need for these two to be together, karmic as it were. I offered to take a look at their Composite chart which is a chart of the relationship to see what it had to say.

They have a great Composite chart that emphasizes the partnership aspect of the relationship between them. The Sun, Mercury, Venus are conjoined in Libra in the 7th House trine the Moon in Aquarius in the 11th House. This is wonderful combination and has genuine partners written all over it. Saturn is square to the Moon in the Composite and it’s possible this aspect brings stability and grounding to all the Fire & Air energy. Neptune forms an out-of-sign sextile to Venus and the Moon adding a touch of romantic overtones.

If the relationship is working fine, then go with the flow for now . . . both people are in their early twenties and my guess is that with Saturn involved, it’s when they reach their first Saturn Return, more information and issues will arise and can be dealt with then. There is an old saying . . . “don’t go borrowing trouble”!! Enjoying the Now never hurts. 🙂

The Two of Cups is the card for the first stages in a partnership when all is fresh and new.

  1. The Two of Cups is the card for the first stages in a partnership when all is fresh and new. That very card keeps coming up in readings concerning my Aries and I. We both are lucid and mature enough to know it is only a phase.

  2. At the same time, we agree with you:There is an old saying . . . “don’t go borrowing trouble”!! Enjoying the Now never hurts. 🙂🙂

  3. That very card keeps coming up in readings concerning my Aries and I. We both are lucid and mature enough to know it is only a phase. It is only a phase but a very important one IMO. Cardinal types in particular (I know because I’m one . . .) seem to want to rush thru life to the next stage and forget to savor the moment! Are we nutz or what! 🙂

  4. Cardinal types in particular (I know because I’m one . . .) seem to want to rush thru life to the next stage and forget to savor the moment! Are we nutz or what! 🙂Ain’t that the truth!!! I’m ALWAYS wanting to fast-forward…!!!

  5. That can play out in funny ways too.Like… “I don’t think this will last, so hell, why don’t I just smash it to smithereens *right now*, or just walk away from it *immediately*”…Duh!!!Fortunately, I have *not* been doing that with my Aries. It feels very weird, yet very good! Novel!!This old dog is learnig new tricks!!!

  6. Ah, thank you Neith this was great… the only piece I see that doesn´t ring is my moon… its definitely not in detached Aquarius like his, but in emotional Pisces. I think that may be one of the things get in our way sometimes!

  7. Ah, thank you Neith this was great… the only piece I see that doesn´t ring is my moon… its definitely not in detached Aquarius like his, but in emotional Pisces. I think that may be one of the things get in our way sometimes!Curses!! Shot in the vanity by Mercury Retch!! You are correct and I miss keyed the date when entering yours into my software . . . profound apologies. However, the Composite Chart is correct (done on a different data base & all entered correctly! So with your Moon in Pisces, you have a Sun/Moon square and that is a very sensitive point indeed. Where he can resort to logic, you can intuit your way to the heart of an emotional issue. One thing I did note is his Neptune is conjunct your ASC/Sun and sq your Moon. That’s where that Pisces Moon can really come in handy – seeing through the illusions/expectations created by Neptune that dazzle your eyes . . . Which is another way of saying be careful and double check your facts where he is concerned. Neptune does make great “Romance” but we have to be sure who’s doing the romancing.

  8. Neith, I agree with you that these two have a very powerful karmic connection. Since Saturn represents the father and parentage, the karma they’re working on together could have something to do with their roots or ancestry, or perhaps they’re helping each other work out their family issues. Typically, relationships like this end when the issues are resolved. But in this case, that could be a long time! I wish these two a lot of courage and am glad they found you to assist them.P.S. The Two of Cups is a great card. I especially love the Colman-Waite image, with the angel with the red wings blessing the couple. The Lovers can mean other things when it turns up in a reading (e.g., indecision), but when the Two of Cups turns up, it means love, and that’s that!

  9. The Lovers can mean other things when it turns up in a reading (e.g., indecision), but when the Two of Cups turns up, it means love, and that’s that!LOL! I’m having a great time becoming reacquainted with the Tarot thru the exercise of choosing a card for each post. There are some very, very beautiful decks out there . . . and a LOT of them!!

  10. There are some very, very beautiful decks out there . . . and a LOT of them!!No kidding, Neith! For anyone who might be interested, here are two great sites to view decks and get general info about the Tarot:Aeclectic Tarot has more than 900 decks! This week they’re featuring the Jane Austen deck. Tarot purists will be appalled, but you’ll love it if you have a sense of humor (e.g., the suit of teacups!). The only thing I don’t like about this site is that you only get a few samples of each deck, no doubt due to copyrights. To browse whole decks, I recommend Tarot.com. There aren’t as many decks, but you can see every card. Tarot.com has an exclusive partnership with U.S. Games Systems, which owns the rights to all of the most popular decks, including most of the Rider-Waite clones (which, you’ll notice, I call “Colman-Waite,” in honor of the artist, Pamela Colman Smith. This woman is a whole story in herself).Have fun!

  11. Oops. Pat gets a little Mercury Rx zinger. That should be Smith-Waite deck (which some people refer to as Rider-Waite-Smith). Colman was her mother’s maiden name, not hers.

  12. Since Saturn represents the father and parentage, the karma they’re working on together could have something to do with their roots or ancestry, or perhaps they’re helping each other work out their family issues. Typically, relationships like this end when the issues are resolved. But in this case, that could be a long time! I would have to agree with Pat on us working out family issues, namely my own. My family in the past has been an issue of strife within my relationship with my partner. I had a lot of notions about how they would accept him and our relationship. At certain points it blew up in my face… but overall we got through it. I am a lot closer to his family than we are to my own. I found out that my family is generally very traditional, and generally don’t fit in with my modern free for all lifestyle that includes having my partner very close to me, even if we are not married. As far as a long time, is 40 years long enough? Lol we had this joke at the beginning of our relationship that probably ties in with the karmic bonds. We both felt like we knew each other, and in knowing each other through this relationship it felt like 40 years in a matter of months… we behaved like a couple that had been together for 40 years! So if that’s any indication we have 38 more to go! I think I would be okay with separating with love at the point.

  13. Hi NeithI am wondering if I could get your insight into a relationship I have with an aries fellow (I am an aries too!) Seems like we have a lot in common and a lot of positive astrological aspects yet nothing has gotten off of the ground. We have two strong saturn aspects (his saturn conj my sun and trine my moon) and his north node conjunct my saturn. We work together pretty closely together and while we haven’t been romantically involved it is hard for me to let this one go and try to be in another relationship- any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!Conjunction his Aries Sun / my Sun AriesTrine his Aries Sun / her Sag Moon Square his Aries Sun / her Cap Mars Trine her Aries Sun / his Leo Moon -Trine his Moon / her Mercury – orb: 02′ 09′ Square his Moon / her Jupiter Trine his Aries Mercury /her Sag Jupiter Opposition his Aries Mercury / her Libra Uranus Trine his Aries Venus / her Sag Jupiter Conjunction her Taurus Mercury / his Taurus MarsTrine her Aries Sun / his Leo Jupiter Trine her Mercury / his Jupiter Conjunction her Aries Sun / his Aries Saturn Trine her Sag Moon / his Aries Saturn Square her Cap Mars / his Aries Saturn.Opposition her Pisces Venus /his Virgo Uranus Trine her Cap Mars / his Virgo Uranus

  14. I found out that my family is generally very traditional, and generally don’t fit in with my modern free for all lifestyle that includes having my partner very close to me, even if we are not married. That was a source of contention in my family where I was concerned too. Though more from my younger far more conservative siblings than my parents. I am happy to say I confounded them when I married & settled in for the long haul (it’s been 17 yrs and counting). Nothing messes with one’s family’s minds like doing something that doesn’t fit their ideas of who you are . . . 😀

  15. Hi Carolyn,Tell you what, if you wouldn’t mind emailing what birth data you have for the two of you, I would be happy to reply in the form of a post. I have this niggling suspicion there may be something in his chart that could point to why. Oh, if you read Elsa Elsa, she points out that Aries loovves to hunt in a recent post and I agree. Lots of Aries in my family including the triple Aries I live with . . . :-)my email: neithnet@gmail.com
