Latest Healthcare News, Pluto in Capricorn & Saturn in Virgo

If you have been following the news recently, more facts are emerging pointing to a very bad return on the dollars being spent on health-care in this country. I don’t consider myself anything close to an expert in Mundane Astrology but this does look like Pluto in Capricorn at work, aided by the exact trine from Saturn in Virgo. One of the more interesting statements I heard from one of those talking head doctors on the news was Americans may have to re-prioritize where health-care dollars are spent. It seems the most money is going to cover the costs of the last year of life! Yikes!

Pluto is noted for his penchant for unearthing unpalatable facts and in Capricorn it’s very likely going to be upper management in the hot seat. Saturn in Virgo opened the door to a closer look at how we maintain our health as opposed to slapping band-aids on gaping wounds. With these two planets currently exactly trine while Saturn slows to go direct May 3, it’s no surprise the need to completely redo the health-care system is being exposed. Pluto is representing the infrastructure and Saturn the people who do the work.

Capricorn and Virgo together are also great for auditing existing spending practices and ruthlessly implementing more efficient and less expensive ones (well, maybe it’s Pluto that’s the ruthless one). When the US falls behind Cuba with higher infant mortality rates and falls well behind most of the other industrialized nations in life expectancy while spending trillions, it’s pretty much a no-brainer the system is beyond broken and has been for some time . . .

For those of us, myself included, who have either no health insurance or the most basic major medical, our best option is to heed Saturn in Virgo’s message to tend to our own diet and exercise routines. Right now the Pluto/Saturn trine is offering to help us. When Saturn moves into Libra at the end of October 2009 promptly squaring Pluto [just before election day in November, hmmn], the gloves come off and there’s a very good chance it’s not going to be pretty.

Time to eat our veggies and go for walkies!!!

For those who enjoy reading more about synastry, I just posted on the The Second House in Synastry: Follow the $$. Writing about the chart wheel in synastry was an “ah ha” moment [with overtones of “well, duh” . . .]

This is the same photo as I used on the Sexual Tension and a Bit of Drama post over on Real Astrologers but here it’s possible to click on the image and view the larger version! Then it’s much easier to see the hawk wheeling through the sky . . . 🙂

  1. LOL! Yes, this is the presidential election year but national elections are held the second Tuesday of every November. 🙂

  2. Wahoo, no health insurance in a year! Is there still Saturn in Virgo? There is, right? And also, what’s Mundane Astrology? I like Saturn in Virgo and need it rather badly. Although there’s no magical transformation in making my daily life any more healthy or organized or using time wisely. It’s just a hot button issue for me that I have to get up off my ass and solve (aka do my work, organize my time, exercise).

  3. well, surprisingly, the medical thing is actually one of the good things about this blasted, so-called “merger.” My scripts are now suddenly only $1 (!!!!) at the drug store. That happened on Jan. 1 just when the Capricorn Pluto started to be really felt. Also, the stewardship of the Earth seems to have really jumped to the forefront. Even BUSH (!!!) is reversing his position on global-warming. (Maybe someone made him watch “Day After Tomorrow”?? and the Al Gore movie?)It’s suddenly everywhere you look in the media. It’s even penetrating my thick skull — and Texans aren’t exactly in the forefront of “eco-chic”. Unless, of course, you’re talking Austin. Austin is like a whole other country. hee. not conservative like the rest of the state. It’s not like the Pacific Northwest.

  4. Wahoo, no health insurance in a year! Is there still Saturn in Virgo? There is, right?I wouldn’t bet on health insurance leaving any time soon . . . waaaay too much money to be made by insurance companies.Saturn will stay in Virgo until the end of October next year but will revisit late degrees Virgo from early April 2010 to mid July 2010. [take note those of you who have planets/angles from 27-29 degrees in the Mutable signs].And also, what’s Mundane Astrology?Mundane Astrology deals with world events, news & current events on a national scale. Pat Paquette, my partner on Real Astrologers, see her Big Picture Stuff, is very, very good with Mundane Astrology. It’s just a hot button issue for me that I have to get up off my ass and solve (aka do my work, organize my time, exercise).LOL!! that’s it!! 😀

It’s even penetrating my thick skull — and Texans aren’t exactly in the forefront of “eco-chic”. LOL! Very big deal in Washington & Oregon, especially on the west side of both those states . . . central & eastern Washington & Oregon are far less liberal as a group. As to the ‘why’ my cynical side says ’cause there’s money to be made in eco-chic these days. ::evil grin::

  6. Neith,This isn’t just an American phenomenon – the Health Service is broke in this country too. Speaking as one who has close contact with the service (as a client and being married to a GP), it feels as though its been undergoing some tranformational and turbulent times for the last few years. Hmmm it would be interesting to do a chart for the NHS as we know when it came into being …

  7. Hi Neith,Boy, I sure hope you’re right. This issue has been ignored for a really long time. Did you see Michael Moore’s movie?
