ElsaElsa Astro News

I don’t know about anyone else but when Top Ten Astrology News bite the dust I was quietly freaking out because it was not only someplace I stopped by daily to see what other astro-bloggers were saying but a great source of hits for my blog and the website I share with Pat Paquette, Real Astrologers. Now Elsa and HQ have come up with something new and far better to replace it.

Astro News has a much easier to read format, better link system and is overall more aesthetically pleasing. In other words I think it’s GREAT!! Since they just got the new site up and running there will undoubtedly be a learning curve and a few bugs to work out but it’s already running fast and well.

The SpringWidgets Astro News widget is another major improvement over Top Ten’s. It can be customized easily to fit your blog or website and the look is far better. I plan on playing with mine some more when I have a moment but hey, it works now.

Congrats, Elsa, for a significant contribution to keeping all our “boats” rising!! Your hard work benefits us all one more time.

  1. Thanks Neith, just a heads up – we are having problems with the blogspot feeds coming in (like yours) and working to resolve. There are some other malfunctioning feeds as well but we hope to get it all going smoothly very quickly and thanks for the endorsement!! 🙂

  2. just a heads up – we are having problems with the blogspot feeds coming in (like yours) and working to resolve. All part of getting anything tech related up and running. It’s just so good to have one of the key elements for connecting all us online astrologers back in place.I thought it ironic the WordPress blogs are working more smoothly than Blogger with the new system. Top Ten’s feed was erratic for WordPress blogs . . .As for the endorsement, you work damn hard and deserve it! 😀

  3. Hi Jessica!I totally agree. I found you through Elsa’s Top Ten!Were you feeling deprived too when Top Ten died?! 🙂

  4. They both work for me even though Top 10 was often down and I couldn’t open the main page. As for the outlook, I actually prefer the old one, go figure ;)Allthat matters is that Elsa keeps our boats rising 🙂

  5. All that matters is that Elsa keeps our boats rising :)LOL!! completely agree, DM! BTW, I didn’t comment on your post on Venus in Scorpio but did stop over and read it and was very, very impressed. 😀

  6. Thanks everyone – this has stressed me beyond belief. I am going to focus on the new site even though all the feeds are not working yet – put my energy there for exactly this reason… I have been under the threat of that site going down for more than a year! In fact my contact there was laid off 6 months ago and told me plainly that I should be prepared that what happened could happen – that is that the bigger entity that bought top 10 could opt to shut it down. It has been a tremendous amount of work to lose – sort of like paying rent for years as opposed to buying a house so in the future I will be WORKING on the other site… adding improvements and seeking out interesting content although the top 10 will also be around. At least I guess this is the situation. I am telling you, I feel like I’ve been through a washing machine cycle and then some!

  7. This is totally weird!! I was able to get here via a WP dashboard link but can't using any IE7 links!! Pain in the A**!!!!Elsa, i plan on sticking with your new Astro News even if you & HQ are still in the development phase. Even if Top Ten is up and running again there is no guarantee it won't go TU without notice again. We all have about a gazillion balls up in the air right now and I have much more faith in a project you & HQ are directly managing. Don't know about anyone else but the waxing Mars-Uranus opposition is messing with me. A little energy lift is good but setting the whole damn house on fire?! Yikes!

  8. Thanks, Neith… the new site will surpass the old eventually but the old site is deep and I imagine it draws traffic from searches. I am starting to see how both sites will have merit but will definitely be investing in the new one and have the headlines displayed on my blog which I have never had before.I am thinking this will help traffic quite a bit and combined with my energy – the new added content going on the astro-news, never mind all the feeds working things should be evened out before long. Also, we have plans to add features which is something not possible at top 10 so really the advantage there is the history which will not be lost anyway. All in all I am beginning to get my mind around this but it sure has been a PAIN!!!!!!!

  9. I’ve been working on my BFF to get in touch with you…she’s going through a break-up and she could use some synestry help. However, she’s a lawyer so she’s nervous about the internet.Woke up this morning to another tropical storm heading straight for us. This one looks like it’ll actually make it. Hope they let us out early today and don’t expect us to come to work tomorrow. The locusts have hit the grocery store and the water is nearly gone. Ah. hurricanes. so much fun.

  10. Elsa, I see Astro News as eventually being a better deal than Top Ten just because you have more personal control over it. FYI, I’m getting hits from Astro News, Top Ten and Jeffrey’s Astroblogger in roughly equal amounts so people are visiting all three right now.Noticed Blogger posts are now showing up on Astro News!! 🙂

  11. {{{{CASEY!!!}}}}Always good to hear from you. When I saw Houston and the latest tropical storm in the same sentence I went OH S**T! Casey is going to love that . . . NOT!I’ve been working on my BFF to get in touch with you…she’s going through a break-up and she could use some synastry help. However, she’s a lawyer so she’s nervous about the internet.LOL! Maybe if she emails me, she will start to feel a little more comfortable. I’m a pretty reliable sort. 😀

  12. I know, I know…I'm workin' on her.The problem I think is that her relationships don't reach down into the spiritual core of her being. She hangs out with worldly people and they do worldly things that usually involve alcohol. And we all know the filters come off in those situations. It's almost like she's shut that off because she still hurts from her divorce. (20 years ago) But this is a huge year of change for her so far so maybe we can reaquaint her with that part of herself. She'd probably think it really funny all this coming from ME! but I can at least recognize the spiritual these days and am peace with that area of my life. And being alone no longer scares the hell out of me. just old age. and that's cuz I can't afford to stop working.however, she's interested in a guy with a stellium in Cancer and you know how I feel about those needy Cancer types. (She's a Cappy with virgo & scorpio). It's too bad she can't find a guy with my chart because our synastry is great. (evil smiley emoticon here) And we've been friends for 40 years now.all I want is work — I want to justify my existance. I feel like I've been goofing off for a year.my boss thinks i'm the only one getting worked up about Edourd. but they did finally issue some message about "if there isn't electricity, don't come tomorrow." hee. I've been reading the eyewitness stories of the big hurricanes. especially the 1900 Galveston storm. This is just a little baby storm. Doesn't mean it won't flood at my house, however. It flooded just two weeks ago from one little toad-strangler that fell just on my particular neighborhood. And I've already heard my neighborhood's name on the Weather Channel so clearly I live in the bullseye of all strange weather occurrences that happen to Houston. My boss thinks I need to move. hee.

  13. It’s too bad she can’t find a guy with my chart because our synastry is great. (evil smiley emoticon here) And we’ve been friends for 40 years now.LOL! yeah, I've had that conversation with friends too. Have you looked at the composite chart for the two of you? They are really interesting, especially for a relationship that has lasted as long as yours has.my best relationship composites usually have the sun conjunct Venus. You & i have one. Lots of time I end up with a Mercury sq Neptune in the composite with Pisces but not with you. must be your Aries Mercury. :-)It flooded just two weeks ago from one little toad-strangler that fell just on my particular neighborhood. And I’ve already heard my neighborhood’s name on the Weather Channel so clearly I live in the bullseye of all strange weather occurrences that happen to Houston.”Toad-strangler”?! ROFL!!! Hey as long as your house doesn’t’ flood, that’s what i say. On the rare occasions the river we live close to floods, there is water covering our driveway but the house its self has never been flooded in the 80+ years it’s been around.

  14. It’s a rainy day today…Edourd took a turn toward the north of us so we’re on the clean side of the storm. So we’re getting moderate rain and not much wind and we just spent lunch at the pub with some ale and cider. pub food and rain, definitely go together. too bad we had to go back to work.
