That Mars-Uranus Opposition messing with me!

As is the way when Uranus and Mars are activating one’s chart, the events come in on unexpected tangents and fast. Late last night I got an email from my brother bringing his siblings up to date on some family stuff. My dad caught the brunt of this but since I don’t have an accurate birth time for him I can’t tie it to anything specific in his chart. He did just complete the last past of his THIRD Saturn return (and here I am happy to have made it through my second . . .)

His little poodle-type dog who went everywhere with him apparently developed a fast spreading cancer of some type and after discussing the situation with the vet, they decided the best thing to do would be to put the dog to sleep. This happened yesterday afternoon and that evening he got a phone call from his nephew telling him his brother had had a heart attack and died!

My uncle had been slowly failing for the last year or so and his death was not unanticipated. Now this event can clearly be tied to my uncle’s chart. He had his Sun at 15° Gemini opposing Mars at 21° Sagittarius, so the current Mars-Uranus opposition created a grand cross in his chart. A sudden medical event like a heart attack can be an expression of this aspect . . . especially if one is 86 yrs old and in very poor health.

Going back to my end of things, the Mars-Uranus opposition is affects my Mercury at 22° Scorpio (Mars is sextile and Uranus trine). Uranus is also squaring my natal Uranus. Mars is transiting my tenth house and Uranus my fourth so family events are being translated (Mercury) into astrological terms for my readers. Being notified by email and quite unexpectedly is very Uranian.

Anyone else experiencing this aspect messing with them? Something I can’t help but be thinking about is the upcoming opposition to Uranus from Saturn in early November. But maybe that has to do with Saturn in Virgo crawling steadily towards my mid-heaven making it the most elevated transiting planet in my chart.

This photo of the little filly is just because. She & her mom belong to my friend and are thriving on our pasture. For those who are interested in such things, she is an Arab-Quarter horse cross.

  1. oh, neith, cyberhugs. hope your dad handles this well. my mom was very upset when they had to put her little yorkies to sleep before Tom died. sigh…it just seems that everyone is going through an accumulation of little losses that sap the joy out of everything.I’m just ignoring all those outer planets…don’t care if Uranus is dancing on my Sun, don’t care what happens when it opposes Saturn…just get me through next May, please. then things will get better…

  2. so I scurried off to astrodienst to see what upcoming transits I have and came away with a short-term trine to my ascendant that says this:”At the same time this influence indicates that you have reached a point of equilibrium at which your actions and behavior toward others are reliable and consistent. You will not feel like surprising people with sudden or unpredictable actions, nor will you want others to surprise you. Your whole objective is to reach the point where all your affairs are running smoothly and on schedule. Your approach is disciplined, well ordered and mature.”THAT is exactly what I’m aiming for. May only last for two weeks but HEY! I’ll take it!

  3. I never considered 3rd Saturn Returns, but I have at least an aunt that has had hers. Jesus, the 1st one must be hard enough…I hope your Dad can deal with both those losses the best way possible.I’m having a grand cross too, if you consider my NN. I’m not feeling very well, I have some back pain and I haven’t been sleeping so well because of that (it figures since the involved houses are 6th and 12th). As for the future Saturn/Uranus opposition, I can’t even think about it without getting into a panic, which ‘probably’ isn’t the best thing to do. Any recommendations for me to prepare for that?

  4. Neith, I’m sorry for your dad. That must have been very upsetting – losing a pet is sad enough, but compounded with his brother’s passing, no matter how ill.As I’ve mentioned, the Uranus-Saturn transits hit me from October to January, so we’ll hold off worrying about that for now! Meanwhile, my Chiron return is exact with the North Node on my Desc and is interesting, especially when Mercury hit the south end (conjunct my Moon at 18 Leo) and gave me some information I hadn’t thought of clearly before. Nice.

  5. I only just discovered your blog, and I’ve been lurking around from time to time, but I did want to say that I’m sorry this opposition is messing with you so badly. It definitely seems to be hitting some people harder than others. As for me, it hasn’t been too hard to handle. It’s mostly been turbulence from a relationship standpoint, to make a long, complicated story very short. I have a very temperamental, over-emotional boyfriend who gets sulky, and rude, and takes everything he’s feeling out on everyone else whenever it suits him, so needless to say he’s been on my last nerve lately. Of course, it doesn’t help that I’m feeling pretty volatile and over-sensitive myself under this influence. Even under normal circumstances it’s not easy for me to be very tolerant of what I see as some of my boyfriend’s flaws, so it’s all I can do not to kill him right now. This influence does seem to be a crazy one though. I’ve been hearing all kinds of stories from friends and other bloggers who seem to be feeling it in their lives as well in one way or another.

  6. must learn to read better…I completely skipped over the part about your uncle. so triple cyberhugs. and his 3rd Saturn return. All the transits at that stage in life are about moving on to new things. that’s what I get, playing on the ‘net while at work.

  7. Hi Casey!Your whole objective is to reach the point where all your affairs are running smoothly and on schedule. Your approach is disciplined, well ordered and mature.LOL! You want to share?! We need our moments of grace. :-)All the transits at that stage in life are about moving on to new things.Exactly my thoughts because at 88 yrs, my dad has been around for awhile. As far as I’m concerned he can do whatever he chooses . . . his health is very good and he has lots of friends to hike around looking for native plants with.

  8. Hey DM!As for the future Saturn/Uranus opposition, I can’t even think about it without getting into a panic, which ‘probably’ isn’t the best thing to do.Saturn is the party in your 6th and it’s there now, so maybe it’s time to get serious about finding ways to improve your daily routines and your overall health. Apparently there are no substitutes for eating quality food and getting regular exercise. This sounds like a good time to find out what works best for you.Keep in mind Saturn benefits are earned the slow and steady way . . . yeah, boring! But it’s true! 😀

  9. Hey leslee! As I’ve mentioned, the Uranus-Saturn transits hit me from October to January, so we’ll hold off worrying about that for now!Oh I agree with that philosophy. Just dealing with what’s right in front of my nose is keeping me hopping for now! Meanwhile, my Chiron return is exact with the North Node on my Desc and is interesting, especially when Mercury hit the south end (conjunct my Moon at 18 Leo) and gave me some information I hadn’t thought of clearly before. Nice.Excellent! Don’t you love it when that happens?! My dad is staying busy with his usual interests and my sister was out yesterday evening to visit with him. She’s good at handling this sort of thing – Scorpio Sun, Cancer Moon person that she is. Plus she works in the eldercare field and has gone through hospice training too.

  10. Hi Shannon! Thanks for stopping by and commenting. This is a pretty casual place with friendly sorts.I have a very temperamental, over-emotional boyfriend who gets sulky, and rude, and takes everything he’s feeling out on everyone else whenever it suits him, so needless to say he’s been on my last nerve lately.ROFL!!! And you haven’t pitched him out the door?! You have faaar more patience than I. :-DMars moves fairly quickly and will be out of orb soon and quit stirring Uranus up. The next major Mars event is Mars square Pluto on the 16th – part of the Full Moon lunar eclipse. Anger can easily turn into rage with that influence!

  11. (((Neith))) and (((your family!))) Lots of love to you all. And light, as you see fit 🙂

  12. Check out the solar eclipse at Astronomy Picture of the Day! If you visit the site after 8/8/08, you may need to click back to that date to see the photo. Here, you can see the Moon’s features in the reflected earth-light as well as the Sun’s corona. The Crown of the Sun.

  13. (((Neith))) and (((your family!))) Lots of love to you all. And light, as you see fit :)Thanks, Christy! I know you have not exactly had an easy time lately either. You can appreciate my Scots-German dad’s response to Tuesday’s events . . . he said “I’ve had better days.” Here’s hoping we will all have better days to come. You know, I’m inclined to think a lot of what we’re dealing with can be attributed to Pluto’s last pass through Sagittarius. We seem to be forced into closure in some areas in our lives to allow room for something new to come in. bleh

  14. Joe, that picture is spectacular!! The amount of energy curling around the Sun is beyond comprehension IMO.Thanks!!

  15. Hej dear heart kisses for you and your papa. Nothing more to add on the transits. It’s been exhausting for sure.Hugs and warmest thoughts to all

  16. well, we’re having something new come along in April…my son’s having another baby. I am…dismayed. They don’t have a good enough handle on things as they are. I make it a point to not criticize any of their decisions. Well, I may raise an eyebrow. But it’s so overwhelming. oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

  17. Sorry Neith, what do you mean by “Saturn is the party in your 6the house”? Anything apart from it being in transit through the house?

  18. well, we’re having something new come along in April…my son’s having another baby. I am…dismayed. They don’t have a good enough handle on things as they are. But it’s so overwhelming. oh dear, oh dear, oh dearI don’t know whether to offer congratulations or condolences but I’ve been feeling like that lots lately . . . LOLDo his wife’s family live close enough to help if needed? Sometimes I think the young ones having babies forget what a great resource grandparents are. We are so far flung as families now. The changes in just the last 30 yrs has been tremendous.

  19. Sorry Neith, what do you mean by “Saturn is the party in your 6the house”? Anything apart from it being in transit through the house?Yes, DM, I’m referring to Saturn transiting your 6th. Looks like it is right on the cusp of the 6th right now! 🙂

  20. Joe, i replied to your email…hope you see this.Sorry neith, but i know that you will be happy to be the go between for us, for some reason (um???see the questionaire on your fron page heh) joe and i had some problems with email not getting to it’s destination.Thank you my sister of the eastside.

  21. hey tseka!!Sorry neith, but i know that you will be happy to be the go between for us, for some reason (um???see the questionaire on your front page heh) joe and i had some problems with email not getting to it’s destination.for a couple of my favorite cyber-friends?! Not the slightest problem!! 😀

  22. Thanks we seem to be going fine, what ever the hijinks were they are in the past. (knock wood)Looking again at that Arab x Quarter horse, mighty fine looking. I do so appreciate horses, deer, elk, it’s a Sagittarius thing. Who couldn’t be happy in that pasture of yours?
