More on Synastry and Reality

Over the years, I’ve seen examples of both great synastry and no relationship; and mediocre synastry with a great relationship. It all goes back to the individual and their expectations of themselves as a partner as well as of a partner. This is one of those circumstances where being both an astrologer and a counselor helps.

Speaking of astrologer/counselors, Donna Cunningham has a wonderful series of posts on reducing our fears in these stressful times. Go to the sidebar on her blog and click on the “Freedom of Fear” link. After reading the post on shields, I promptly reset mine – makes a difference when one has a Moon-Neptune conjunction!

  1. Dear Neith,I have a question about the synastry between me and my interest. After reading several of your posts (which i really enjoyed!) I was wondering if you could give me some insight about the realtionship between me and my interest.I left an earlier comment on your ‘hades moon’ post and I could greatly relate to what was written in your ‘a fiery duo..’ post as well.I am leo, saggitarius rising, uranus in my first house, all my personal planets lined up in my 8th house conjuncting each other, and my sun, mars square my pluto and my sun, venus square jupiter and aspecting uranus. My interst is aries and a strong individual too. his sun, mars, venus, mercury conjunction is conjunct my jupiter and therefore squaring a lot of my personal planets. the same goes for his moon-pluto conjunction, which is opposing his sun, mars, venus, mercury conjunction and therefore also squaring some of my personal planets! This can never be any good, can it?(although I have to note that his siblings suns are squaring his sun and moon as well). To add to this almost all our planets are contacting each other, there are quite some double whammies happening as well and we seem to have a lot of similar aspects in our charts (like he has a sun-venus link, i have a sun-venus link etc.).We are both fiery but enjoy quiet peaceful times and the arts as well (both of us have venus – sun, moon, uranus, jupiter contacts too).I met him at the day that the sun was transiting my vertex/moon. we were seeing each other for a while when he suddenly broke off, never contacting me again. then we met again and we sorted things out. but then found that we still have a lot of feelings for each other that we migth want to deepen out in a relationship, so we’re seeing each other again.Still it seems to me that there is something more to this relationship. The amount of ‘coincidence’, a lot of challenging aspects, powerful attraction and probably something karmic about it (his jupiter and saturn conjunct my southnode/midheaven. my sun conjuncts his sun/moon midpoint) leave me puzzled at times.I really like this guy, and feel so good about the chemistry between us. But things have been complicated as well. I feel there is a lot to this relationship, always did, but is it just a learning experience or might we actually end up with each other? Or should I not even bother and let it go altogether?Thank you so much in advance!Punarvasu

  2. The synastry between my partner and me is apparently not promising, on paper. Time will tell how how far and how long we are intended to travel together. So far, the journey has been hugely enriching for the both of us, in a very eyes-wide-open and mature kind of way. We’re both growing, and we laugh a lot, and for now, that’s plenty. I’m letting each day take care of itself, and we’ll end up where we end up. “Detach from outcome.” 🙂 (Now where did I hear that?? 😉 )

  3. Hey Jane! The synastry between my partner and me is apparently not promising, on paper. Time will tell how how far and how long we are intended to travel together. So far, the journey has been hugely enriching for the both of us, in a very eyes-wide-open and mature kind of way. We’re both growing, and we laugh a lot, and for now, that’s plenty.Being able to laugh together is incredibly healing, isn't it? As for the difference between how a relationship looks on paper and how it plays out in the real world, that's what keeps us relationship astrologers on our toes.I still feel Uranus squares & oppositions in synastry are the most difficult because with several of those, the whole thing can be over before it even starts. Saturn requires adjustments but at least it keeps two people together long enough to make them! And, yes, I do see comments made on old posts because they are emailed to me when posted . . . I do have Mercury in Scorpio. :::grin:::
