This story of this New Moon at 26° 55′ Cancer on 18 July 2012 at 09:25 PM PDT revolves around two different signatures, one being Saturn in Libra squaring the New Moon and the other a complex pattern featuring a Cradle Pattern, T-Square and a Yod all anchored by small, dense Pluto in Capricorn. Most importantly what is started under this New Moon will have lasting effects and we better be darn good and sure we know we’re about.
Squares teach us about the pitfalls of making assumptions better than any other aspect. Saturn in Libra operates on the mental plane whilst the New Moon in Cancer is all about emotions. Libra is concerned about issues of equity, fairness and justice but prefers to deal with those issues on an intellectual level rather than from the gut. Cancer has a knack for emotional appeals like no other sign and is very good at motivating others in that way. Of course, this can annoy the heck out of Libra who is appalled anyone would even CONSIDER making a judgment call without carefully considering all the facts! In an ideal world we can use both our minds and our feelings to make our way through life and the more we practice doing so the better we’ll get. When you are interacting with friends and family on this New Moon, do your best to engage both your heart and your mind.
The Cradle Pattern is composed of the planets in the fire and air signs with the opposition between Mars in Libra and Uranus in Aries as the base for both the Cradle and the T-Square. Mercury in Leo sextile Jupiter in Gemini is the top of the Cradle connected by trines and sextiles to Mars and Uranus. It is easy to see this is all about exciting ideas and innovative projects to be created with heaps of enthusiasm . . . very yeasty stuff indeed! Venus in Gemini is widely connected to all of these planets so she adds her particular brand of sweetness and light. Wonderful and totally ungrounded in anything resembling reality is a very real possibility with this pattern!
The hard-charging cardinal T-Square is pure power and drive. Talk about not wanting to take “no” for an answer! However that is exactly what could happen because Pluto in Capricorn is firmly in the driver’s seat on this one, in part because it is the apex of a Yod with Jupiter in Gemini sextile Mercury in Leo as the base (yes, the same sextile that’s the top of the Cradle). The Jupiter-Mercury combo is the ultimate fast-talking salesperson who has no problem doing whatever it takes to make the sale. Pluto is about as tough a sell as they come in cynical Capricorn. The upshot might be endless discussions going nowhere and the harder the push (Mars in Libra trine Jupiter in Gemini) the less likely agreement will be reached . . . which would be a shame because Uranus is inspiring brilliant, innovative ideas trine to Mercury in Leo. Listen actively and closely to determine whether or not what’s being proposed will work for you.
Is it going to be possible to take advantage of all the delights promised by the Cradle planets? Yes, if we do our best to see Pluto as teacher instead of autocrat and loosen our need to micro-manage our lives to the point of choking out all the vitality. Open minds and hearts is the key here. Please consider the idea, rather than the source before pushing the “reject” button. Even finding one point of agreement can be counted as success in this atmosphere of throwing out the baby with the bathwater (Uranus).
After being right in the middle of things during recent lunations, Neptune in Pisces seems to be sitting this one out and I, for one, am very grateful. That Jupiter-Neptune square was a doozy! We will plenty on our plates as it is.
A dominantly cardinal sky with fire and air in ascendance says sitting this one out is probably not an option. One way or another we’ll be prodded to take some kind of action. Those with planets and Angles from 7° to 11° in the cardinal and mutable signs will be likely be right in the thick of things whist those with planets and Angles from 23° to 27° in the cardinal signs will feel the New Moon-Saturn square the most.
Staying as detached as possible from specific outcomes is the wisest course in my opinion whenever Pluto is on the field. Quite challenging on this New Moon as will be seeking middle ground under this polarizing atmosphere. As always, opt to practice kindness and patience each and every day!
On a personal note: Yikes! I see all kinds of aspects to my chart this time! Saturn in Libra is within shouting distance of my Sun-Chiron whilst the New Moon square them, Mars in Libra conjoins my Neptune, Mercury in Leo my Saturn-Pluto in Leo, Uranus is trine my Saturn-Pluto and Pluto in Cappy conjoins my natal Pallas in the second house. Guess I better follow my own advice about keeping my heart and mind open or I may miss out on opportunities to learn something new and exciting. Saturn will be there to aid in keeping me grounded and centered in the real world.
