Full Moon in Pisces, August 31, 2012

After the drama of Leo season, this Full Moon at 08° 34′ Pisces on 31 August 2012, 06:58 AM PDT is a welcome relief. Power is still the name of the game with Mars in Scorpio sextile Pluto in Capricorn though it will be wielded with far more subtlety using the knife rather than a club. We do have a choice. If we interact with others using our company manners rather than making demands, we’ll be fine . . . if not, then we best watch our backs.

The Virgo-Pisces axis deals the need to be of service to others in a myriad of ways. With the Moon conjunct Chiron in Pisces, many painful issues swimming in the collective will come to light. These likely will be long standing wounds we truly need to address as a society, such as racism which continues to cause deep pain to many, many peoples. The Full Moon is noted for flooding the night with light and perhaps in Pisces, the light will also open our hearts to allow them to be healed. Even if there is only a brief moment of realization, sometimes that is enough to start the healing process.

The lunar axis forms the base of a Basket Pattern connecting the Virgo Sun, Pisces Moon, Mars in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn . . . all earth and water signs. On a personal level, we may be given opportunities to access long hidden information courtesy of the powerful Mars-Pluto sextile. Mars is fearless in Scorpio, willing to dig deep to find the truth and it is aided and abetted by Scorpio’s ruler, Pluto. If you have planets and/or Angles from 5° to 8° in Scorpio, Capricorn, Virgo or Pisces, this powerful pattern can greatly enhance your ability to pinpoint problem areas for you. There is a good chance most of the action will be internal rather than external. Earth and water signs prefer to take care of business quietly with little fanfare.

Least we forget Uranus in Aries . . . please don’t! It sits back and takes pot shots at all the planets in the Basket Pattern. What this says to me is unpredictable, erratic behaviors are the most likely to cause problems, or it may be some sort of dramatic event breaking our concentration. Aries does not like to be ignored, period. Have several contingency plans in place if you have something important planned around the end of August.

Mercury, Virgo’s ruler, is still in Leo and will be happily sextile Saturn in Libra. Saturn tones down this Mercury’s tendency towards dramatic presentations and this aspect is simply wonderful for creative writing of all kinds. We can all be thankful Pisces’ ruler, Neptune, is quietly sitting this lunation out. Of course, if you have planets and/or Angles at 01 in the mutable sings, then it might be a different story. [I tend to go with exact aspects only with Neptune.]

Another less happy aspect is Saturn’s square to Venus in Cancer. This one will take a lot of the fun out of life, sort of like having your mother along on a date. *shudder* Budding romances could be set back for awhile though if both parties are willing to stick around, matters will eventually resolve. Being patient and mature is the key.

Jupiter in Gemini very widely squares the lunation axis but being expansive Jupiter, it will probably work anyway. I see this as the “T.M.I.” (too much information) aspect and under this influence people will be tempted to waaaay over-share! Whilst this may not bother your typical fire or air sign person, earth and water folk might deeply regret opening their mouths the next day. Think before you speak, OK? Respect other people’s privacy too.

My preference for this Full Moon would be to spend time in retreat, contemplating life and renewing the inner self. Look around for ways to help others . . . there is always something worth doing even in your local neighborhood. Choose peace and patience!

On personal note: Lots of connections to my chart with this one. Mars conjoins my twelfth house Jupiter, Saturn is within a degree of Chiron whilst Mercury in Leo is sextile my Sun. Having the energy of the Basket Pattern flowing into the twelfth house looks to be thought provoking. I’m pretty comfortable rummaging around in there. LOL

The Venus-Saturn square does take some of the shine off but if I take my own advice to be patient and acknowledge the need for some delayed gratification, all will be well. Hey, I’m a “glass full” person!
