New Moon in Virgo, September 15, 2012

This New Moon at 23° 02′ Virgo on 15 September 2012 at 07:11 PM PDT will call attention to all things Virgo. Virgo is a quietly industrious sign who shines when helping others. It excels in organizing all those small but important details needed to make our daily lives better and it is ruled by Mercury.

Unlike the recent Full Moon in Pisces, the New Moon only makes a couple of aspects: a conjunction with Mercury in Virgo and a semi-sextile to Saturn in Libra. Saturn brings out Virgo’s already keen sense of responsibility and Mercury emphasizes its capacity for mental acuteness. Hey, if you have a ton of forms to fill out and paperwork to slog through, this is a great time to get going on those. Be methodical and do double check your work because there is a fly in this Virgo ointment . . . Mercury happens to be inconjunct to Neptune in Pisces by the numbers even though they are opposite by sign.

Ceres in Gemini has a role to play here too since it is exactly trine Saturn in Libra and squares the New Moon-Mercury stellium in Virgo. In Gemini, Ceres offers nurturance via caring communications where listening is as important as talking. This goes for the non-verbal side of effective communicating too and suggests sitting down in person with folks is a wise choice. Making time for our significant others and partners of all kinds is also a good idea. Saturn is only a few weeks away from leaving Libra and we need to address any relationship issues still hanging fire.

Mars in Scorpio, Venus in Leo and Jupiter in Gemini are looking to make our love lives exciting. Even though Venus is five degrees out from the other two, she is catching up fast and will be sextile Jupiter on 20 September and square Mars on 27 September. At this time, Mars in Scorpio is exactly inconjunct Jupiter in Gemini, an unsettling combo. Gemini is far too quick and flighty for Scorpio’s taste. Jealousy might be an issue, exacerbated by Jupiter’s tendency to pay extravagant compliments and make unwise promises. Venus in Leo thrives on attention and will eat up all those wonderful compliments Jupiter is showering on her. Those two will regret it if they succeed in pushing Mars in Scorpio too far though. Scorpio may up and leave them to their games without saying a word. Since both Gemini and Leo love playing to an audience, removing it abruptly will be effective.

Thankfully the Uranus-Pluto square is less involved with the rest of the chart this lunation. The exception is a trine from Uranus in Aries to Venus in Leo which brings out Venus’s independent side though in more of a playful way. Humor is the key to avoiding too much trouble. Otherwise those of us already dealing with issues brought to the surface by this square won’t be asked to add more to our plates. The exact square is just a few days away now (September 18-19).

It might feel like there are three separate themes on this New Moon and it depends on whether or not you have personal planets in the early, middle or late degrees. The New Moon in Virgo grouping focuses on 27° to 29°, the Venus-Mars-Jupiter hits 10° to 15° and the Uranus-Pluto square affects 6° to 7°. So you might be dealing with productivity and practical matters, your love life or whatever hell Uranus and Pluto are putting you through . . . and if you’re REALLY lucky, all three!

On a personal note: Lucky me . . . I get all three! Saturn is sitting on my Chiron-Sun in Libra whilst the Virgo stellium is shining brightly in my tenth house. Jupiter is exactly trine my Moon, a big plus whilst Venus in Leo conjoins the midpoint between my Saturn-Pluto conjunction . . . not so shiny. Uranus-Pluto continue to aspect my natal twelfth house Jupiter, focusing attention on my natal Jupiter-Saturn square. Guess my life will continue to be very, very busy.

Fortunately Mars in Scorpio is in between my Scorp planets in the twelfth and I plan on ignoring him for now. Enough already!!  😀
