Full Moon in Aquarius

Full Moon in Aquarius

The Full Moon at 0° 06′ Aquarius ushers the Sun into lordly Leo on 22 July 2013 at 11:16 AM PDT. Nonetheless the light from the luminaries is diffused by all the water in the sky. It is as if we are standing behind a water fall watching the Sun set and the Moon rise.

For air signs this Full Moon in ultra rational Aquarius is a treat after all the emphasis on touchy feely water. The cool, crisp logic Aquarius brings to bear on problem solving is a joy for those of us with our Sun, Moon or Rising in air signs. Even though this is a short lived event, it reminds us the waters will eventually recede.

Fire signs get a bigger break because this Full Moon marks the beginning of Leo season when the Sun returns to living large in its home sign. Now there will be two planets in fire with Uranus in Aries being the other and when the Moon swings through the fire signs, it will be enough to warm fire sign hearts everywhere.

Venus arrived in Virgo shortly before the Sun entered Leo and is exactly semi-sextile the Sun whilst inconjunct the Aquarius Moon. Venus is eager to pack up her party clothes and retire into the background in Virgo but I have the sense the luminaries aren’t going to let her go just yet. She has little in common with either Leo or Aquarius. She finds Leo’s outgoing enthusiasm wearing and Aquarius sadly lacking in common sense when it comes to aiding the less fortunate. Libras are probably the only ones who will even notice this exchange between Venus and the luminaries as it may make them feel less social than usual.

An opposition between Venus in Virgo and Neptune in Pisces may lead even this down-to-earth Venus astray. Anytime Venus falls under Neptune’s spell, the rose colored glasses come out and common sense falls away. It promises plenty of fun for die hard romantics though.

Mercury, now direct in Cancer, makes a waning square to Uranus in Aries and suggests the need to keep a firm hold on our tempers and our tongues. This square exacerbates the tendency to speak without thinking, especially under emotional duress. Due to Mercury is still moving slowly this aspect will be in effect longer than usual. Adding a powerful undercurrent is an opposition from Pluto in Capricorn to Mercury in Cancer. Control issues of all kinds may provide fuel to the Mercury-Uranus square. Be very careful about laying blame.

The most powerful pattern in this lunation chart is a Kite Pattern embracing the Grand Trine in water. Saturn in Scorpio, Neptune in Pisces and Mars conjunct Jupiter in Cancer comprise the Grand Trine with Pluto in Capricorn making it a Kite. Whilst the Grand Trine is rather passive in nature, a Kite is often more proactive thanks to the inclusion of an opposition. In this case Pluto in Capricorn opposes Mars and Jupiter in Cancer. Practical, pragmatic Capricorn is happy to work with Saturn, Capricorn’s ruler, to lay out a clear plan of action and the Mars-Jupiter conjunction is the perfect energy source. Learning more about family traditions, studying the family tree and delving into family memories are ways to utilize this energy. Learning about our ancestors and where they came from can help ground us in the here and now.

Despite the injection of fire and air from the luminaries, this Full Moon chart is dominantly cardinal water. The Sun may officially be in fiery Leo but it will still feel like Cancer rules the sky. Remain sensitive to what you feel and what other people are feeling. The waters are shallower now and that will help. Enjoy the moment and may the fortunate Kite Pattern bless us all! By the way, this is the first of two Full Moons in Aquarius. The second one, on 20 August, is 28° and has a nice balance in elements.

On a personal note: My Libra Moon does catch some flack from the Mercury-Uranus square though orbs are wide, probably making me moodier than usual. Thankfully Mars and Jupiter are exactly trine my natal Jupiter and just maybe there will be some good news coming round.

  1. I’ve got both Aquarius moons in 1st house …I could do with a makeover. This grand trine has been very tiring…thank goodness mercury will be direct. xox

  2. First house for me both of the moons. I could do with the makeover I’m really bloody tired by this grand trine and uranus lol.:)
Mercury moving forward has got to be good too. It feels like the longest retro in ages.xox

    • Hey Kaz!
First house for me both of the moons. I could do with the makeover I’m really bloody tired by this grand trine and uranus lol.:)

It is also a good check to see what works best for Koch or Placidus! *cheeky grin* If Koch, then it will a 2nd-8th event and money will be involved in some fashion.

      xoxoxo diane~

      • Ha ha I looked at my chart from you after I posted. I’ll ho with the money next time xxx

  3. the first full moon will be in my 1st house and though its unaspected, im a 7 degree cancer in my 7H so i expect to feel this. when the transiting moon its 24 degrees sag later today it will conj my ascendant and natal neptune rx, im wondering if i may either have dreams, or if dreams from the past will show signs of coming to fruition… (i have prophetic dreams frequently, sometimes it takes years for them to manifest)…

the full moon is unaspected for my partner too, but when it hits 27 degrees cap just before its full, it will conj his true node. im wodnering what this might bring? hes a gemini so this will also be right as mercury goes direct in my 7H (thank heavens!!!)

i love your posts, thanks so much!

    • Hi acquagal!

For both of you, Mercury turning direct will help bring clarity though it will take awhile because Mercury won’t be back up to speed until sometime next week. The Mars-Jupiter conj in Cancer has to be resonating for you. Mars will conj your Sun here later this week on its way to opposing Pluto. If you are feeling the need to take some kind of action, please make sure you are pointed in the best direction . . . Jupiter’s influence can have us leaping before we look! 😀

      • Thanks Diane. This afternoon I felt a definite surge of energy, and I’m about to go to the gym. I’m usually exhausted after work on a Monday! So yes, I feel mars and its positive. With him experiencing a mars return and me having it conj my sun, and pluto opposing, power struggles abound. I’m not making any sudden or rash movements though, I feel a sense of peacefulness that I usually don’t feel at full moons, and I guess I can attribute that to the trine. Jupiter had brought me some luck already, so I look very forward to its conj with my sun on Friday. It conjuncts my north node 3 times this year due to the retro, the first time in September. Last time that happened in 2001 I formed a significant partnership (7H) Fingers crossed! Your blog is amazing thank you!

  4. I am quite curious what you think about transiting Mars-Jupiter opposite my natal Mercury. What could it mean? I can find the separate transits in books and on the net, but the combination Mars-Jup seems a bit explosive to me! With mercury still square Uranus, maybe I should keep my jaws closed 😉

About the two full Moons in Aq, very interesting. First one at the end of my 12th house, and so square Uranus, maybe it will put a light on something I don’t want to hear about myself. Or a sudden thing I really did not expect of myself. But it will be tensed I think, because of the square/12th house.
But the next at 28 degr will be right in the middle of my first house (SHINE!) and then… trine that old Uranus!
SO I guess I have to ‘get used’ to something. Or accept something, and if I do, it will be rewarding somehow. Or something ugly will turn into something nice… You never know with Uranus! 🙂

    • Right off hand I’d say both of the Aquarius Full Moons will be affecting your 1st house! Two degrees is well within orb of the ASC. Today’s Full Moon creates a T-Square with your natal Uranus. Good for deciding to change up your appearance in some respect. 😀

  5. Another Aquarian here with both Full Moons in her 1st house. My makeover is still ongoing but the weight loss is reaching it’s conclusion. Nearly 3 stone gone and I’m back to where I was 15 years ago, when I was 39-40. Been a long cycle but I can see the completion or fulfilment is in the next month or so.

Now looking forward to some new beginnings in work and romance for the new (old) me 🙂

    • Hey Rossa! 😀

WOW! Congratulations! That is a major accomplishment and I bet you feel great. 😀 Did you start this regime last November when Saturn in Scorpio was trine your natal Venus? Good weight loss programs seem very Saturn related to me & with your Cappy Rising slow and steady works best.

Today’s 0° Aquarius Full Moon in your 1st does seem to mark the completion of a cycle & the New Moon in Leo will exactly conjoin your natal Uranus, triggering the opposition to your Sun. New beginnings with a bang! 😀

      • Just looked at that new moon chart. Wow!

Transiting Neptune also conjoining my natal Venus and trans Saturn conj. my natal Neptune.

I’ll let you know what the big bang brings 🙂

  6. My lunar return occurs later that day at 2* Aq. I’ve always felt that Moon cnj Venuus in Aq. is the saving grace of my water-heavy natal chart.

    • Welcome stevo!

My lunar return occurs later that day at 2° Aq.

Hmmmm, you have the Kite Pattern w/Pluto in Cappy in this Lunar Return. Hope that gives you a boost over the coming month!

I’ve always felt that Moon cnj Venus in Aq. is the saving grace of my water-heavy natal chart.

Moon conj Venus in Aquarius is on the detached side & may be just what you need to keep some sort of boundaries in place. 😛

      xoxo diane~

  7. Heh heh, oh my, I better watch myself this week! I’m the one with Uranus opposition my Mercury…transiting Mercury completes that T-square. Looks like I won’t be able to take myself out of this week’s actions and just sit by the sidelines though, not with my Venus Return (which always creates a T-square), and Jupiter sextile my Ascendant and trine my natal Jupiter. And the Full Moon is almost exactly sextile my beloved natal 7th house Uranus. Hopefully it will at least be a more interesting week than the last two boring ones!

    • Hi Maria!

*big grin* Oh I agree! You probably aren’t going to suffer fools quietly now. With those Jupiter transits, it would appear you will have luck on your side. 😀

  8. Thanks Diane, I think I agree about that first house thing. I am ‘in a group’ right now, with my physical and psychological exercise programme, so I AM getting a lot of (positive!) attention and learning about my role in groups and with people, why and how I react to things, and how to change ‘wrong’ attitudes or projections. Also a lot of physical exercise, which makes me feel good 🙂
About my new appearance, well I’m doing my best with my diet, and am still thinking about my hair. Still love pink 😉
