Observations: Head’s Up on Keeping Your Head Down

We’re going into a weekend where Mercury in Libra will set off Uranus in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn. Before we get to those fireworks, we have Mercury squaring the Capricorn Moon and Pluto conjoining it today to get things started.

Cardinal signs are the movers and shakers of the zodiac and every time another planet triggers the Uranus-Pluto square simmering in the background, we can get the urge to shake up the status quo. During August Mars and Jupiter in Cancer were the instigators when they took their turns squaring Uranus in Aries. Now it is Mercury in fair-minded Libra who will probably bring up issues the powers that be aren’t happy to have aired. The emotional appeals of August give way to intellectual appeals at this time.

Those who have personal planets and Angles from 9° to 11° in the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) will take the most heat this weekend. But judging from the uptick in activity in my very cardinal household, I’m guessing pressure will be more widespread. When cardinal energy is tapped, an urgent need to take action is felt whether it is warranted or not. Taking a few minutes to verify what all the fuss is about wouldn’t hurt. The sky is still dominated by planets in earth and water with the Saturn-Pluto sextile asking us to take the most pragmatic approach to handling our problems.

Saturday looks the most volatile in part because Mars in Leo will be trine Uranus in Aries, increasing the need to move ahead at top speed. It will be very easy to take off in a big hurry without taking other important factors into consideration. Sunday the Moon enters airy Aquarius and while she will support Mercury in Libra and Uranus in Aries, she will also square Venus and Saturn in Scorpio. Respect for other people’s beliefs and morality can be the key to getting along.

It is an excellent time to practice thinking before speaking and checking to see if a simple, practical solution will work before jumping into crisis mode. Remember to breathe and consciously slow down!
