We will be getting to know Venus in Capricorn quite well this time around because Venus is spending three months in the tenth sign. On November 5 she will leave the wide open spaces of Sagittarius for contained and careful Capricorn. It will be next year on March 5, 2014 when she finally shifts into Aquarius. Between now and then Venus will be retrograde from December 20, 2013 to January 31, 2014. Venus stations retrograde at 28° and direct at 13°.
Venus is civilized in Capricorn, a sign that understands the importance of using good manners and being polite. She certainly dresses well here and has an unerring sense of what it means to dress for success. This is a quietly sensual place for Venus and while quite passionate, she is also very discrete. No running around flirting with the boys like she did in Sagittarius!
If Venus in Capricorn has a shortcoming, it is a touch of snobbery. Given her druthers there would be nothing but designer clothes in her closets and the names of the rich and famous on her phone. However, she can easily make do with quality knockoffs and genuine, down to earth types. The best side of this Venus is a real appreciation for quality no matter what form it takes.
The only serious aggravation Venus in Capricorn will run into is a square to Uranus in Aries on November 14 (she conjoins Pluto the following day) which triggers the Uranus-Pluto square at 9°. For the most part I believe this will be about money and how it is being spent . . . wisely and carefully if left to Venus and Pluto.
The lover’s quarrels come after the first of the year (January 16 and March 2) when Venus squares Mars in Libra. These should blow over quickly because neither Libra nor Capricorn is fond of airing their differences in public.
During Venus’s stay in earthy Capricorn she receives plenty of love and kisses from Neptune in Pisces, Saturn in Scorpio and Jupiter in Cancer in November 2013 plus a conjunction with the Capricorn Sun on January 11, 2014. This will go a long ways to making her extended stay in the Capricorn sector of our chart much more pleasant.
The most telling aspects are the three times Venus will be sextile Saturn, Capricorn’s ruler – November 23, 2013 at 16°, January 11, 2014 at 21° and February 24, 2014 at 23°. Saturn in Scorpio will bring out this Venus’s more conventional side, encouraging the need to present a respectable face to the world as well as being very careful with expenditures. We may find ourselves being more frugal the first part of next year and choosing quality over quantity. I happen to see this as a positive trend and quite beneficial in the long run, something both Saturn and Capricorn approve of.
I admit I was a little apprehensive when I realized we had a Venus retrograde in the offing, being a Libra and all. Now that I’ve taken a closer look I have a much better feeling about the whole event. We’ll need a calm, centered Venus to help offset Mars in Libra setting off fireworks around the turn of the year! More on that later . . . 😀

im really excited for this. my AC is 24 degrees sag conj my neptune at 25 degrees sag, and conj my juno/lilith at 1 degree cap. i have capricorn intercepted in my 1H, so venus will be in my 1H this entire time. i need it! and my relationship does too 🙂
my sun sign is cancer, and my NN is cancer, and in my 7H (cancer is intercepted in my 7H). so im happy with jupiter there….. i feel like this is going to be a very blessed time.

Diane, I am looking forward to this Venus transit into my 2nd house Capricorn where it my natal Jupiter lives. Yesterday, I went from recent hire to 2nd in command with a terrific boss and interesting work. Putting up with Saturn in Libra has stated to pay off. This retro Venus looks good to me and I hope it will be to you too. Don’t you have 2nd house Cappy also?

I would rather be the helper rather than the boss. At this moment, I see my boss, unfairly catching the flack for recent changes in the workplace. I had a sales job for years and hated going to someone rather than a person coming to me for my services which is what I have now.
