Observations: Not Enough Air to Breathe

Circus Memories by Michael Parkes© Michael Parkes

These days those of us with air sign Suns are not doing so well. There will be no planets in air until Mars enters Libra on December 7 except those times when the Moon is in Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. No planets in air makes it much more challenging to keep discussions on an intellectual level or have a meeting of the minds.

The long years when Neptune was in Aquarius meant there was at least one planet in air. Then Saturn spent two and half years in Libra, followed by Jupiter in Gemini for a year. Now all of the outer planets except Uranus are in earth and water. It won’t be until September 10, 2016 when Jupiter reaches Libra will that air will have a consistent presence once more . . . and that will only be for a year.

We’ll survive of course but in order to thrive we might have to get creative. Understanding how to be effective with no air support might come easiest for Gemini, Libra and Aquarius Sun folk who have either their Mercury or Moon in earth or water. An earth or water sign on the Ascendant is also helpful but Venus and Mars not so much. As a Libra Sun with Mercury in Scorpio conjunct a Scorpio Ascendant, I can usually manage to keep my head above water with help. I have found Betty Lundsted’s book, Astrological Insights into Personality, very useful because her insights into the elements in the natal chart are clear and easy to understand.

It will be good for us air signs to explore the watery emotional realm and learn more about what makes earth signs so self sufficient. Besides, what choice do we have? As for you fire signs out there, Uranus in Aries has your backs now and next July Jupiter moves into Leo for a year so you’re good.

  1. i had a dream about 2 flying geese 2 nights ago! how interesting… my gemini has his mercury in taurus, and mars/venus in cancer, but moon in libra… hes been through a rough few years, especially the last year… hopefully he will be able to adapt to the emotional intensity of the current times… i feel fine with it as a cancer sun, so i have to remind myself to be empathetic and compassionate, and most importantly, selfless.

    • Hi acquagal,

how interesting… my gemini has his mercury in taurus, and mars/venus in cancer, but moon in libra… hes been through a rough few years, especially the last year… hopefully he will be able to adapt to the emotional intensity of the current times…

Ah . . . Mars/Venus in Cancer is very compatible w/your Cancer Sun. 🙂 Mercury in Taurus has to be some help though Mercury in Cancer would be more so. Gemini Sun/Libra Moon may respond best to being coaxed to talk about what’s on their mind. Both signs need dialogue to deal with thorny emotional issues but like to deal with those in small doses intermixed with plenty of lighter topics!

      • Thank you Diane! So true small doses after I coax him mixed with light talk lol. Yes his sun and Venus conj my sun in my 7H and my Venus conj his sun in my 5H. My mercury is also in Gemini. And we both have libra moons, his moon conj my mars and Saturn in my 9H and my MC, in libra. Don’t know his houses but as I’ve learned more about astrology and aspects happening to my natal and progressed chart and his even without the houses it has been really helpful.

  2. Really helpful information. Helps me understand why my youngest with her aquarius sun, Gemini moon and aquarius rising is struggling.

    • Hey flip!
Helps me understand why my youngest with her aquarius sun, Gemini moon and aquarius rising is struggling.

Sun, Moon & Rising in air says she is happiest interacting with others & the world through her intellect alright. Bet she needs lots of bright shiny puzzles to keep her entertained. *grin* Might be a good time for her to study non-verbal clues via images or books. Most air signs assimilate information easily, both visual and/or auditory. Water signs need to engage thru the heart & air signs the mind. 🙂

  3. I may survive this: Venus, Mars and the Moon in Leo, Scorpio Rising and Mercury in Libra. Next stop for Jupiter is Leo. Lots of Fire for this old(er) girl. Great post, Diane.

    • Hi Linda!

Scorpio Rising will certainly help in the sense it provides a water “filter” between you & the world. With your Mercury in Libra it may help to get feedback/help from a water sign friend (with an air sign Mercury if you know one). 🙂

  4. i’ve got almost everything in air and fire…..so not surprisingly i’m on the verge of a nervous breakdown! (kidding but only a bit)…….counting the days until we enter sag my rising sign…..focusing on my merc/scorpio by searching the internet for calming music and videos.

    • Hi diane!

Next Thursday, 11-21, the Sun makes it to Sagittarius!! Yay! 😀 For those of us with lots of fire & air, all this earth & water creates mud. It can feel like wading thru a swamp . . . exhausting.
