We’re back to learning how to breathe underwater again on this New Moon at 05° 37′ Cancer, 27 June 2014, 01:08 AM PDT which is dominated by cardinal water. We need to take the time to tune into emotional clues and then respond with kindness and sensitivity. This is especially true when interacting with our loved ones and extended family.
As is often the case these days, there are two themes running through the lunation chart, one has to do with compassion, cooperation and kindness and the other is forceful and demanding. We truly need the former to handle the challenges of the latter. Neptune in Pisces trine the New Moon and Saturn in Scorpio trine Chiron in Pisces carry messages of hope and healing whilst an opposition between Mars in Libra and Uranus in Aries creates tension. Minor aspects have an impact too, both semi-sextiles and inconjuncts.
Cancer is a very personal sign because it represents our roots, home and family. However we may be better served at this point in time to follow Neptune’s lead and allow our boundaries to dissolve and expand our concept of family. It is time for all of us to see ourselves as citizens of the World. For the most part, people are less inclined to do harm to those they can empathize with . . . providing they have the capacity for empathy in the first place. Perhaps the trine between stern Saturn in Scorpio and Chiron in Pisces will allow some of the wounded ones to accept those wounds and take a step towards feeling compassion for others who in a similar condition.
A more vigorous aspect is the cardinal T-Square created with Jupiter in Cancer squaring the Aries-Libra nodal axis. At this time the North Node is in fair-minded, cooperative Libra opposing the South Node in independent Aries, thus highlighting our individual needs, our partnership needs and the needs of the family unit. Can we learn to work together to find a way to meet all of those? If we follow the Libra North Node’s guidance towards compromise and cooperation we can. As a Libra myself I can cheerfully say it is all about moderation and balance! Hah!
Some oppositions are fiercer than others and the one between Mars in Libra and Uranus in Aries is an example. After watching Uranus in Aries for awhile now, I have come to the conclusion you might as well get out of its way and let it run off the cliff. It may or may not learn its lesson but at least you won’t get run over. Those who are caught up in a powerful Uranus transit seldom take the time to realize they might be hurting others in the rush to follow their desires. Mars in Libra is out of its weight class here and won’t be much help. This is the third time this opposition has occurred with the first one on December 24-25, 2013 at 8° and the second was on April 22-23 at 13° as part of the Grand Cross. Hopefully this last one will see the end of issues we dealt with on those dates.
The love and romance department is complicated on this lunation because both Venus and Mars are not well aspected. Venus in Gemini is out of touch with reality due to Neptune in Pisces squaring it, and not only is Mars in Libra having to handle the opposition to Uranus but is also under pressure from a semi-sextile to Saturn in Scorpio. The upshot is those involved in the dating scene need to be very wary, especially of attractive bad boys and girls. The risk of jumping into some kind of relationships with those types is much greater than usual and resulting complications more serious. It takes much more than Love to reform someone from the dark side of life no matter what the romance novels preach.
Some other minor aspects contributing the unsettled feeling are Saturn in Scorpio inconjunct Uranus in Aries, retrograde Mercury in Gemini semi-sextile Jupiter in Cancer and Venus in Gemini semi-sextile the Cancer New Moon its self. Saturn acts as a brake on Uranus and the Mercury-Jupiter combo can lead to stretching the truth ‘till it squeaks in order to tell a better story. Another issue that may become a problem under the Mercury-Jupiter aspect is gossip, particularly family gossip. Gossip is seldom kind or helpful. The most benign is the Venus-New Moon connection with the Cancer New Moon gently reminding Venus to respect people’s feelings.
F.Y.I. The reason I haven’t made mention of Pluto in Capricorn is because it is generally out of orb of all but Uranus in Aries and that square is old news. Don’t worry, Pluto will back in the middle of the action soon enough.
How this New Moon affects us may depend on whether or not you have personal planets and Angles in the water signs from 5° to 7° and can feel the love from the New Moon-Neptune trine or if you have those at 16° in the cardinal signs and are taking a hit from the Mars-Uranus opposition. The lucky ones are those who have neither and can sit back and enjoy feeling nurtured by the Cancer New Moon.
On a personal note: Heh, I get both the kisses and the kicks this time around! My natal Jupiter in Scorpio completes a Grand Trine with the New Moon-Neptune trine while Jupiter in Cancer is exactly trine my Scorpio ASC . . . all sweet and lovey. However, Mars in Libra is just past my Libra Moon and I doubt if I will be able to avoid the turmoil of the Mars-Uranus opposition as much as I’d like too.
