Venus will be leaving flirty Gemini this Friday, July 18, for the soothing waters of Cancer where she is far more sensitive to emotional undercurrents. In fact, Venus in Cancer ought to come with a warning label: Handle with care, bruises easily.
Thoughtful, loving and kind, this gentle Venus can surprise you at times. After all Cancer is a crab with powerful pincers. Generally though she prefers to pull back into her protective shell and hide her sense of vulnerability from prying eyes. She is happiest mated to someone with Mars in the water signs (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces) who excel at reading non-verbal cues. Next on her list of suitable partners are those with earth sign Mars (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) whose calm, sensual presence acts as a balm to delicate Cancerian nerves. Mars in the fire and air signs, especially Aries and Libra, grate on Venus in Cancer’s nerves. Fire is often too abrupt and abrasive while air can be very unsympathetic and distant.
With the exception of a square to Uranus in bold, intemperate Aries on July 31, Venus has a reasonably smooth journey through Cancer this year. Neptune in Pisces embraces her sweet self on July 24 paving the way to True Love, glorious sacrifices and all. Then on July 27-28 she opposes Pluto in Capricorn and if she is her usual non-confrontive self she will gain a partner, not an opponent. Hopefully she will because then she will have backup for her nerve wrenching square to Uranus a couple of days later. Since Venus steps into a Grand Trine in water with Saturn in Scorpio and Chiron in Pisces the following day, I’m guessing she will be successful in gaining Pluto’s support. The moral of this story is those who treat their lovers unkindly won’t find them waiting patiently when they decide to show up on their doorstep again. Pluto can be a pretty scary ally and prone to offering permanent solutions!
Once the flurry of activity around the end of July and the beginning of August dies down, Venus will have an easy time of it until she leaves Cancer for dramatic Leo on August 12. That’s when the good times begin to roll because her first meet up will be with Jupiter in Leo on August 17 and we can all celebrate!
