Usually a Virgo New Moon is an excellent time to sit down and get organized. However this New Moon at 02° 19′ Virgo on 25 August 2014, 07:13 Am PDT, has Neptune in Pisces opposing it and consequently may be less focused than usual! Choose where you want to set your New Moon intentions with care, and focus on projects where service to others is a major factor.
Heading up major events on this lunation is the exact conjunction of Mars and Saturn in Scorpio at 17°. It is involved with several other planets creating a great deal of tension. There is nothing inherent wrong with the conjunction becaue Mars is at home in Scorpio and Saturn does well there too. This combo is capable of sustained effort and is wonderful if you have challenging tasks requiring focus, discipline and tenacity.
My choice for most chancy is the Yod with Uranus in Aries at the apex and Mars-Saturn sextile Mercury in Virgo as the base. It is messy all the way around since Uranus is rarely happy to be linked to Saturn, and in Aries the situation is even more stressful. I have to say my first thought when I saw this Yod was advising people to avoid risky, sexual behaviors at all costs. Considering going out and trolling for a hookup? Forget it! Thinking about getting together with a married person for hot sex is another equally bad choice. Saturn in Scorpio’s lessons have been harsh enough in this regard and with Mars at this his side, those lessons will be unforgettable as in an unexpected pregnancy or serious STD. You know . . . one where people can live with the results for a long, long time. Mercury in Virgo can give you a great lecture on why practicing safe sex is the best way to go too!
Having Venus in Leo squared by the dynamic duo of Mars and Saturn does not make for an exciting love life either. Scorpio usually greets Leo dramatics with a cold, calm exterior . . . no audience participation there! Fueling Venus’s drama is a trine to Uranus in Aries and that may be why she could choose to make a flamboyant exit, not realizing no one is going to follow her out and plead with her to return. Breakups tend to be permanent with Mars and Saturn in Scorpio in the picture.
Having said that, there is a bright, exciting creative side to the Venus-Uranus trine in fire and if you have planets at 16° in the fire signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) you might have receive the inspiration you need to start working on your masterwork. Maybe the angst from breaking up with your lover will be the trigger. Just saying . . . 🙂
Jupiter in Leo does not have a big role at this time. The inconjunct with Neptune in Pisces is waning and an inconjunct with Pluto in Capricorn is waxing. It is as if the fog is lifting and what is revealed is unsettling at best, horrifying at worst. Both inconjuncts serve to remind us of the downsides of Jupiter such as its tendency to take things to extremes.
This New Moon in Virgo brings us stark reminders the glorious drama of Leo Season is over. We need to calm down, focus on what is real, accept our responsibilities with grace and plan our next moves with care. Grand schemes must give way to the boring, mundane details that make up our daily lives. There is plenty of joy to be found in the little things if we open ourselves up to those! Be well and practice patience.
On a personal note: Even though the orbs are wide, I might get sucked into more turmoil thanks to the Yod because Uranus is moving slowly back into exact opposition to my Libra Moon whilst the Mars-Saturn conjunction is not too far from my natal Mars. With Mercury in Virgo in my tenth house and the New Moon squaring my first house Venus, I might end up talking about all of this with more people than usual. Or should I say whining about it!! 😀

I was amused to see that you had the year wrong (2017) given the opposition to Neptune! I have natal Pluto at 17 Leo, so this 17 deg Saturn has already given me two funerals in two weeks.
Thanks for catching that, Lizzie! 🙂

Ouch! 😦 You probably won’t be alone in dealing with that sort of event as the Mars-Saturn conj in Scorpio weighs in.
