Transitions ahead this week! The Sun continues its journey, leaving placid, focused Taurus for Gemini where it celebrates the mind and darts around following every glittering distraction.
The New Moon in Taurus late Sunday night or early Monday morning, depending on your location, is the turning point. A few hours after that event, the Moon enters Gemini, joining Mercury and Mars. Monday is the day Mercury stations retrograde at 13° Gemini, causing mental gears to grind to a temporary halt. Our perception of time can get a bit odd during Mercury stations so don’t let thinking you’ve lost or gained a day or two throw you.
It is Thursday when the Sun makes its transition from Taurus to Gemini, changing the modal emphasis firmly to mutable. Three planets in Gemini promote curiosity and may shorten our attention span. Boredom is Gemini’s least favorite state. Between Mercury’s very slow pace and a looming opposition to the Sun from Saturn in Sagittarius (exact late Friday), the Gemini Sun is not going to be a happy camper. Irritability will probably be all too common the latter part of the week.
Jupiter in Leo is exactly inconjunct Pluto in Capricorn for the last time Thursday. This uncomfortable aspect speaks to me of powerful people who control events from the shadows in the entertainment industry, stifling creativity and initiative. This inconjunct was part of a Yod on the Taurus New Moon with Mercury in Gemini, and will be around to complete a Yod with Mars in Gemini on the Sagittarius Full Moon. Leave it to Pluto to cramp everyone’s style.
Pluto also opposes gentle Venus in Cancer on Thursday, an aspect that can lead to mounting resentment. Venus in Cancer strives to please and when her best efforts are continually denigrated, she will retreat into her shell and brood. Unresolved resentment is very, very effective at poisoning relationships.
By the time the workday starts on Monday the Moon will have arrived in Gemini where it will stay until early Wednesday. Wednesday’s Cancer Moon manages fine but on Thursday we may see plenty of crankiness due to stress from Uranus and Pluto . . . not to mention all the rest of Thursday’s celestial events! The Cancer Moon will recover from Thursday’s craziness during a daylong void-of-course before shifting to fiery Leo for the weekend. Saturday and Sunday look very favorable for playing with friends and family.
Remember last week? Well this week could be the same song, second verse. Usually when the Sun bursts into Gemini the mental gears engage and ideas start flying fast and furious. Between Gemini’s ruler, Mercury, at a virtual standstill and the Sun running up against Saturn on Friday, we may spend more time running in place. Allow extra travel time, make sure you confirm all reservations of any kind and make no promises you know you won’t be able to keep. Play nice everyone, and dust off your patience for another week.
