New Moon in Gemini

Perky, irrepressible New Moon at 25° 07′ Gemini on 16 June 2015, 07:05 AM PDT happily stirs the pot in order to get a reaction. Be ready for some creative ways to encourage people to think or simply laugh. Mars conjoining the luminaries gives this mutable lunation an edge and a deep restless energy.

More fuel for action comes from the waxing trine between Jupiter in Leo and Uranus in Aries, exact on June 22 at 19°. This aspect has been wonderful for providing insights and inspiration, combining Jupiter’s capacity for thinking big with Uranus’s ability to see around corners. Enjoy this vibrant energy while you can because it is going to fading into history soon!

Mercury in Gemini is now back up to speed after what turned out to be a rather trying retrograde period. It is supported by a wide sextile to Venus in Leo which lends warmth and charm to this Mercury’s edgy wit. However Mercury is part of a T-Square with Neptune in Pisces and Saturn in Scorpio, not the most ideal situation for clear thinking. The final square to Neptune won’t be exact until June 23 unfortunately. The out-of-sign opposition to Saturn in Scorpio adds dissonance because Scorpio and Gemini have little common ground, unlike Gemini and Sagittarius. Watery Scorpio aligns with Pisces far better. Since Gemini prefers to use intellect rather than intuition for problem solving, dealing with two water signs in this T-Square puts it at a disadvantage. Using our intuition and focusing on non-verbal aspects of communication are what will get us through the fog and confusion created by this T-Square.

Saturn in Scorpio is inconjunct the Gemini Stellium of the Sun, Moon and Mars. Saturn in Scorpio is one for fearlessly digging into the dark side to resolve painful issues, something Gemini is very reluctant to do. The addition of Mars to the luminaries increases Gemini’s need to keep busy in order to avoid dealing with any potential unpleasantness. Most of us have met people who are in perpetual motion and always have a ready excuse as to why they don’t have time to talk about sensitive issues. They are sooooo busy being busy after all. The thing is Saturn in Scorpio is capable of forcing them to stop and listen. Here’s a thought . . . voluntarily deal with said issues! I can practically guarantee it will be easier than letting Saturn do the job.

While I’m discussing the harsher aspects in this New Moon chart, I might as well address the inconjunct between good ole Pluto in Capricorn and the two Leo planets, Venus and Jupiter. Pluto in Capricorn has been doing its best to rein in Jupiter in Leo for awhile (See Full Moon in Sagittarius and New Moon in Taurus) and this inconjunct is actually waning. However the inconjunct to Venus in Leo is waxing and will be exact on the Solstice, June 21. Extroverted Venus in Leo is warm, generous drama queen. She loves being the center of attention and has no problem with public displays of affection. Pluto in Capricorn is extremely controlling, private and cool in public, so of course these two planets have no idea where the other is coming from. Maybe this would be a good time to step back and practice a “live and let live” policy.

Poor Venus in Leo is also inconjunct Neptune in Pisces and this one has the potential to create difficulties in our love lives due to unrealistic expectations. Both Leo and Pisces are susceptible to using drama and glamor to get what they want. Neptune strengthens these illusions until it is almost impossible to distinguish the difference between what’s real and what’s an illusion. Please be very cautious about making commitments until the fog lifts and reality returns . . . which it always does, sooner or later.

Perhaps the best use of this Gemini New Moon is to celebrate how our differences enrich rather than detract for our lives. Draw on Gemini’s natural curiosity to explore the world around us with an open mind. Then allow acceptance and compassion to open our hearts to the realization everyone has a place in the grand scheme of things. Namaste.
