Week of July 6, 2015

It won’t feel like we are in the same universe as we were last week. Then we had Mercury in Gemini dancing with Venus and Jupiter in Leo to keep the mood upbeat, but this week Mercury makes one last rather gloomy inconjunct to Saturn in Scorpio on Tuesday before moving on into Cancer Wednesday. Say goodbye to any planets in air!

The Cancer Sun’s emotional radar is thrown into turmoil by an opposition to Pluto in Capricorn on Monday and again by a square to Uranus in Aries on Sunday, July 12. (We now have a week between aspects to those two biggies, instead of hours or a day.) Cancer can be very concerned about security issues, especially when it comes to family members and other loved ones. Being over controlling or micro-managing are both possibilities, and either can lead to resentment. It may feel counter intuitive but trusting our young people to follow the values instilled in them by their elders may be the wiser course of action. Respect does tend to beget respect . . . as does the opposite. The Sun-Uranus square practically guarantees outright rebellion if not.

We do have one splendid aspect this week and that is Mars in Cancer trine Neptune in Pisces on Wednesday. I consider this one the Good Samaritan aspect because it is all about actively helping others with little expectation of reward. The whole “pay it forward” concept benefits from this trine too. Take time to look around, see something that needs doing and get it done with no fanfare. By the way, the timing of this wonderful trine is excellent because Wednesday the Aries Moon has a short fuse as it creates a sliding cardinal T-Square with Pluto, the Cancer Sun and Uranus in Aries. Yuck.

Speaking of the Moon, except for the days she is in Aries (Tuesday, Wednesday and half of Thursday), she keeps a low profile. Monday finds her still swimming merrily along in Pisces, floating over and around any obstacles in her path. And even after she breaks out into Aries Tuesday morning, it’s not so bad. It is Wednesday when the Moon squares Pluto in Capricorn in the morning, squares the Cancer Sun that afternoon and conjoins contentious Uranus late in the evening that tempers may flare due to emotions running high. Calm returns with the amiable Taurus Moon Thursday afternoon and continues on Friday. Saturday may have its ups and downs until evening when the Moon enters airy Gemini and lightens the atmosphere. Sunday has its own challenges (Sun square Uranus) but the Gemini Moon wants no part of that . . . it starts the day square Neptune in Pisces who excels in denial and proceeds to stick her fingers in her ears and go “la la la”.

Some of us may get pushed out of our comfort zones this week and that seldom feels good when it is happening. We could have to finally make choices we know darn good and well should have been finalized quite some time ago. These periods when the issues raised during the Uranus-Pluto square years come up again are going to continue to happen so we have to deal whether we like it or not. No time like the present to practice kindness, patience and tolerance!!

Note: Timing is averaged for EDT to PDT.
