Week of July 20, 2015

black eyed susans 522

Changes are afoot this week. The Sun wraps up its stay in Cancer’s waters and blasts into Leo’s fires on Wednesday. Mercury promptly joins it the next day. Talk about a pronounced difference in tone! We leave the world of feelings for one of heat and drama. Fire brings excitement but often lacks patience and when the Sun conjoins Mercury in Leo on Thursday, the “me” factor kicks in big time. Leo encourages us to express ourselves after all.

On Tuesday as the Sun leaves Cancer it makes a trine to Saturn in Scorpio which gives us support for the transition from water to fire. Mercury in Cancer makes the same aspect to Saturn on Wednesday. Saturn in Scorpio acts as a sea anchor, allowing us to go with the flow in a controlled manner.

Two other significant events occur next weekend when first Venus, then Uranus station retrograde. Venus stationing retrograde on Saturday is a bigger deal because Venus only goes retrograde approximately every two years, while it is an annual event for Uranus. Venus makes only one close aspect at the time she stations, a semi-sextile the Leo Sun and Mercury. It is as if she pauses quietly, turns to wave and disappears into the night. Venus is quite understated in Virgo and doesn’t enjoy making a fuss. The fuss will happen when she reenters Leo on July 31 and realizes she is once again faced with Saturn in Scorpio restraining her.

Uranus in Aries stationing will probably be a much noisier event, in part because it is exactly square to Mars in Cancer about twenty four hours before it reverses direction. In case anyone is wondering, 20° in the cardinal signs is the flashpoint. Those who have personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars) or an Ascendant at 20° in Aries, Libra, Cancer and Capricorn should be prepared for sudden flashes of temper. Be very careful to move with deliberation because going too fast may create the potential for accidents. This potential looks to grow more intense as the weekend approaches but should start to dissipate the following week.

We have a Virgo Moon to start the week off on a business like note. There might be a few interruptions midday Monday but nothing major. Tuesday morning the Moon leaves Virgo for fair minded Libra where she will make no aspects until very early Wednesday morning. Wednesday and Thursday the Libra Moon’s scales are going to be all out of balance thanks first to Pluto, then Mars in Cancer, followed by an opposition to Uranus in Aries in the wee hours Thursday morning. Mid-morning Thursday the Libra Moon goes void-of-course sextile Jupiter in Leo which cheers her up immensely. Thursday evening the Scorpio Moon arrives and those of us who live in the USA will probably sleep through the Leo planets giving her fits. By Friday afternoon a soothing trine to Neptune in Pisces sets things right. Saturday is potentially productive but not all that great for social activities . . . leave those until Sunday when the Moon leaps into outgoing Sagittarius and happily plays with Sun and Mercury in Leo.

Plan on finishing up family related projects and affairs the first half of the week as the Sun and Mercury prepare to leave Cancer. Once both of those planets enter Leo, many will lose interest in attending to business because play time calls. Distractions and interruptions are likely to be on the increase as Uranus in Aries slows to station while square to Mars in Cancer. This very irritable energy will be evident most of the week, like it or not. Something I have always found helpful is to consciously discard expectations of all sorts . . . that and practicing kindness.
