Week of September 21, 2015

Ready or not more transitions are in store for us this week. The equinox is here, the Sun shifts into Libra and we move into the second half of the zodiacal year. This weekend will be the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Aries, a cardinal sign event with a more direct approach than the recent Solar Eclipse in Virgo.

Libra’s ruler, Venus, makes her third trine to Uranus in Aries shortly before the equinox. The day of the equinox Venus in Leo, Uranus in Aries and Pallas in Sagittarius make a Grand Trine in fire which is perfectly timed to enhance the Sun’s entrance into Libra. The warmth and charm of Venus in Leo combined with Uranus’s innovation and Pallas in Sagittarius’s ability to translate the big picture are fantastic for spreading Libra’s message of compromise far and wide. Those lucky souls whose solar returns happen mid-week are going to be blessed by this Grand Trine for the coming year.

An extra dose of charm is going to be needed to offset the razor sharp edges of the second Mercury-Pluto square on Thursday . . . the day Pluto in Capricorn is stationing direct at 12°. I’m afraid this will add up to the revelation of facts bound to make one group or another very uncomfortable. Since Mercury in Libra is currently retrograde not all the information may be available at this time but after it goes direct on October 9, all bets are off. If you have doubted the wisdom of being scrupulously honest and fair in your dealings with others, Mercury in Libra square Pluto in Capricorn will demonstrate why. The final Mercury-Pluto square is on October 22 after Mercury is direct.

Mars leaves potent, fiery Leo for quiet, earthy Virgo on Thursday too. Virgo is probably the least effective earth sign for Mars. It lacks the sheer stubbornness of Taurus or the power of Capricorn where it is exalted. Not only that but Saturn in Sagittarius is waiting right there to step on Mars in Virgo because those two will be square on Friday. It’s looking like we really won’t have much choice about learning to pace ourselves now.

Speaking of Saturn in Sagittarius, we have opportunities to see its good side this week too. When the Sun enters Libra, Saturn is on hand to offer support and help establish healthy guidelines via a sextile to both the Libra Sun and Aquarius Moon. It also provides a stabilizing influence on the Aries Full Moon when it is trine the Aries Moon and sextile the Libra Sun. Use this energy to set boundaries and explore important compromises.

A business-like Capricorn Moon shows up in time to start our work day on Monday, very good timing after a playful weekend in Sagittarius. A pleasant sextile to Neptune in Pisces and trine to Jupiter in Virgo ought to help give us a good night’s rest Monday night. She gets off to a rocky start early Tuesday when she conjoins Pluto and squares Mercury in Libra. Dogged determination is probably what will get us through the day Tuesday, making it a good time to practice kindness and patience.

After a long void-of-course from late Tuesday until mid-morning Wednesday, the Moon shifts into cool, airy Aquarius, joining the Libra Sun with both sextile Saturn in Sagittarius. Issues that plagued us on Tuesday can be reexamined from a detached perspective, presenting us with new options for resolution. Happy connections with Mercury in Libra and Uranus in Aries make for a pleasant Thursday. The Aquarius Moon goes void-of-course opposing Venus in Leo late Thursday evening and won’t reach Pisces until after noon on Friday.

Remember the Mars-Saturn square I just mentioned? The Pisces Moon runs into that aspect and creates a mutable T-Square Friday afternoon. Tempers are going to be strained one way or another. Some may get stuck in traffic on their way home for instance. Not the best evening for date night. Saturday morning finds the Pisces Moon sextile Pluto in Capricorn, the last aspect before going void-of-course for over twenty four hours. It will be Sunday afternoon before the Moon leaps into Aries prior to the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Aries that evening.

By the time this week is over we may need another week or so to figure out exactly what happened. Between the eclipses and several major planetary sign changes over the past two weeks, information overload is a distinct possibility. When that happens, we tend to deal with only the most urgent demands and let lesser priorities slide. Patience, forgiveness and flexibility are all needed now. Remember to take plenty of breathers too!
