Week of December 21, 2015

The fragile beauty of hoarfrost.

Welcome to Capricorn Season! Monday is the solstice and the shortest day of the year here in the northern latitudes. The solstice chart features a Kite Pattern with a Grand Trine in earth and Venus in Scorpio adding a touch of water while creating the Kite, promising more opportunities to be sensible and nurturing rather than confrontive. When I saw this pattern, my heart lifted and it gave me hope all will come right yet over the next six months.

Overall this is a quiet week with few major aspects. One of which is a pleasant, easy going sextile between Venus in Scorpio and Jupiter in Virgo exact Thursday, an excellent aspect for all you last minute shoppers. It should be possible to find a nice, quality gift for a reasonable price if you’re willing to look around for it. Another blessing of this generous, loving aspect is it makes relationships of kinds run more smoothly.

Most of the activity takes place Christmas Day when we have the Cancer Full Moon and Uranus stationing direct at 16° 33 Aries. The same themes from the solstice are present on this Full Moon with earth and water the dominate elements. Where we choose to focus our intent matters and I would suggest going with love, peace and joy.

The week starts with a happy Taurus Moon welcoming the Sun to Capricorn and a lovely Grand Trine in earth (Taurus Moon, Mercury in Capricorn and Jupiter in Virgo). Break out hot toddies and the Christmas cookies to serve to friends and family. One of the beauties of the Taurus Moon is her willingness to be entirely present and engaged in the here and now. Sometimes that is exactly what is needed and what we can look forward to on Monday and Tuesday.

The Moon dances into airy Gemini late Tuesday. Gemini does not connect well with Capricorn because they have very different priorities. Capricorn sees Gemini as frivolous and Gemini returns the favor calling Capricorn a workaholic. The brighter moments come late Wednesday evening and midday on Thursday when the Gemini Moon meets up with Uranus in Aries and Mars in Libra respectively. It will be a subdued Gemini Moon this month.

We wake up Christmas morning and find the Moon back in her home sign of Cancer. Celebrate this special holiday with your family, whether those folks are related to you by blood or affection or both. The definition of family is surprisingly elastic you know. This is the day the Moon is full in Cancer and when Uranus in Aries goes direct.

Saturday is another very good day to spend with those closest to you with a nicely aspected Cancer Moon willing to spread the Christmas cheer around some more.

On Sunday the Moon has shifted into expansive Leo and by that afternoon, the Leo Moon becomes the apex of a Yod with the Capricorn Sun sextile Neptune as the base. Even though that sextile won’t be exact until early on December 29, it is still close enough for jazz on Sunday. Peace and civility are the order of day, so keep the volume down please.

It won’t take long to realize the Sagittarius party is over for the year and that Capricorn has a different set of priorities to discuss. Go with simple, traditional solutions that use existing resources to the best advantage. One rule Capricorn is very fond of is only spending money you already have in order to avoid going into debt. Those who love us are usually happiest with quality time rather than expensive gifts, and love is best when shared freely. Happy Holidays to all!

Note: Timing is averaged for EDT to PDT.

  1. Hi Diane, Thanks for the forecast! I’m really loving the energy of today. I’m a Capricorn with my Moon in Pisces so I couldn’t ask for better over Christmas really. I will share this on Tsu later when I’ve got some more shares again. Solstice Blessings, Lisa

    • Welcome Lisa!

I’m really loving the energy of today.

Me too! This is a wonderful time for earth and water folk though it might a bit rough on the fire signs. Less drama, more peace and quiet is very welcome. 😀

      xoxo diane~
