Full Moon in Leo

Usually there is a pleasant, party atmosphere to the Full Moon in Leo but this one has undercurrents and edges. This Full Moon at 03° 29′ Leo on 23 January 2016, 05:47 PM PST strives to put a good face on things with scant support from a semi-sextile to Venus in reserved Capricorn . . . who is hardly a party animal. Look beyond the surface gaiety to reap the greatest rewards on this lunation.

A great place to start is with the partile conjunction of retrograde Mercury and Pluto in Capricorn. The information we need is almost surely to be found looking back rather than forward, and we should have plenty to dig through after living through five years of the Uranus-Pluto square. It is what we do with the information when we find it that is important. Do we obsessively demand complete control over it or share in an openhanded manner. Believe me when I recommend the latter!

Those who make assumptions based on fragments of data, or jump to conclusions before completely researching the problem may not fare well. However with Uranus in Aries squaring the Mercury-Pluto conjunction, this may happen with appalling frequency in the period following the Full Moon. What might help is having Saturn in Sagittarius trine Uranus in Aries, allowing Saturn’s gentle but firm grip on the reins keep Uranus from going to extremes and placing all hope of progress in jeopardy. It might depend on how deeply people’s anger runs too. Sometimes the extreme option is the only way to clear the deck to allow for new growth, something we’ve become all too familiar with under the Uranus-Pluto square.

Venus arrived in Capricorn only a few hours before the Full Moon and we haven’t had time to adjust to this very proper Venus. She is semi-sextile to the Aquarius Sun and inconjunct the Leo Moon. Free thinking Aquarius and drama loving Leo do love a good party. The rub is their definition of party is quite different from Venus in Capricorn’s who prefers to wear something understated and elegant to an event where she rubs shoulders with old money.

One of the delightful trines in this chart is between darkly intense Mars in Scorpio and elusive Neptune in Pisces. Never doubt the power of water, even tempered by an easy going trine, because it will find a way around most obstacles. There is a slip, sliding away feel to this aspect and those lucky enough to have personal planets between 8° to 10° in Pisces should have a blissful moment or two.

The planet off wandering by himself is Jupiter in Virgo. Other than the ongoing conjunction with the North Node in Virgo, Jupiter makes no close aspects to the other planets on this lunation. The North Node in Virgo specializes in making sure all the details are in place to ensure those who are helping others can do so efficiently and effectively. Jupiter’s energy is best suited to broad strokes and the big picture, and is therefore uncomfortable in Virgo who deals with the small but essential matters that make up our daily lives. If you have personal planets or Ascendant from 21° to 23° in Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces, you are probably already learning about this conjunction.

Where we focus our attention on this Full Moon in Leo can make a big difference in what we take away from it. If we open our hearts (Leo) and our minds (Aquarius) in order to embrace the best in everyone we interact with, we can enrich our lives. Walk lightly through the minefield of Pluto fueled obsession and Uranus impulsiveness please. Peace and love to all.

  5. Not only my Ascendant at 20 degrees Virgo, Mercury at 21 degrees Virgo and Saturn at 19 degrees Virgo. Jupiter moving back over that way. I have no idea what I am learning.

    • Hi Jassi!

Hey, on March 16, Jupiter will be trine Pluto at 17° and Pluto will be . . . maybe that will bring clarification. 😀

      xoxo diane~
