Two parallel but separate themes are at work this week. All goes well until they start to merge on the weekend and then things could get interesting. The water and earth planets are dancing harmoniously with each other while the fire and air are doing the same. The big meeting point is the New Moon in Aquarius on Monday, February 8 . . . technically that’s next week but I’m going to make an exception this time. It is Aquarius Season after all when the unexpected is celebrated. 🙂
One major player this week is powerful, tenacious Mars in Scorpio. The sextile between Mars and Pluto in Capricorn on Wednesday links the co-rulers of Scorpio. This is one of those instances when who the real person in charge may be revealed through the actions they take. Pragmatism and focusing on the bottom line are favored over a more idealistic approach.
On Friday, Mars is inconjunct Uranus in Aries, and this time there is a very good chance people are going to end up furious because someone made a last minute change to long standing plans. With Mars and Mars ruled Aries involved, tempers are likely to be running hot.
These differences only grow deeper and more evident on Sunday when Mars in Scorpio squares the Aquarius Sun. Be careful about whose toes get stepped on because the resulting explosion may cause permanent ruptures in relationships. The exception might be lovers because shortly after Mars squares the Sun, it makes a delightful sextile to Venus in Capricorn. Anger can transmute into passion in that case.
After being central to last week’s dust-ups with Uranus and Pluto, Mercury in Capricorn takes a more constructive role this week with a healing sextile to Chiron in Pisces on Wednesday and an optimistic trine to Jupiter in Virgo on Saturday. This is the last time we will benefit from the kindly influence of these two aspects that did what they could to offset the hardness of Mercury translating the Uranus-Pluto square over the last month or so.
It is Venus in Capricorn’s turn to interact with Pluto and Uranus. She will conjoin Pluto on Friday and square Uranus in Aries on Saturday. Venus oversees money as well as love and this weekend we might end up dealing with an unholy mix of the two. Think divorce settlements. Thankfully, this should be the last gasp for the Uranus-Pluto square except for the weekly lunar cardinal crunch and even those will begin to gradually fade into the background by the end of February. We will be better able to evaluate the long term effects in retrospect . . . like a year down the road.
On the fire and air side of this week’s celestial events, we have the Aquarius Sun making a productive sextile to Saturn in Sagittarius on Wednesday, and an exciting sextile between the Aquarius Sun and its ruler, Uranus in Aries, on Saturday. Both aspects bring out the best and the brightest in all of us. The mix of creative thinking with a touch of Saturn’s practicality is perfect for coming up with amazing, innovative answers to existing dilemmas.
Every once in awhile as the Moon travels through the signs, she gets a day with no interruptions before making her first aspect. We have one of those days this week on Tuesday after the Moon enters Sagittarius.
First she needs to finish up her visit to Scorpio on Monday which looks to go quite well. Other than a spat with Uranus in Aries first thing in the morning, the rest of her day runs smoothly with sextiles to Mercury in Capricorn midday and one to Jupiter in Virgo late afternoon. This bodes well for handling the necessities.
After an overnight void-of-course, the Moon enters Sagittarius where she has the luxury of not answering to any other planet all day long. The Sagittarius Moon has plenty to teach us about how to enjoy the journey and today is a great time to practice doing so. She finally squares Neptune in Pisces shortly after midnight, something that can make for interesting dreams.
Wednesday has plenty going on and we’re lucky the Sagittarius Moon appears to be in a good mood all day. That ought to help us stay upbeat and positive.
Very early Thursday morning the Moon squares Sagittarius’s ruling planet, Jupiter in Virgo, before going void-of-course until late afternoon when she enters earthy Capricorn. Take time to get outside if you can for a breath of fresh air and/or lunch with friends.
Friday we face the cardinal crunch with an extra punch when the Capricorn Moon conjoins Pluto and Venus while squaring Uranus in Aries. This action takes place very late in the evening or during the night on the East Coast. If you want to go out for kicks and giggles this weekend, I suggest waiting until Sunday . . . energy is too aggravated on Friday and Saturday.
There is very little lunar action on Saturday since the Capricorn Moon goes void-of-course following a sweet trine to Jupiter in Virgo in the morning. However there are plenty of other aspects stirring the pot on Saturday so plan accordingly. The Moon enters Aquarius Saturday night and travels all alone for roughly twenty four hours. She is in the balsamic phase preparing the New Moon in Aquarius which occurs first thing Monday morning, February 8. Taking stock of our lives on Sunday can help put in a good place to use the New Moon to best advantage.
A lot of action in the sky this week and we might not realize how out of sync we are with others until the weekend because life is going so smoothly in our little corner of the world. Not much help for it either except to remember that old saw about expecting the unexpected. After the initial jolt followed by the necessary adjustments – so typical of Aquarius Season – it probably won’t be all THAT bad. For the best outcome, do pitch out expectations as fast as they pop in. Enjoy your week!
