The New Moon at 18° 04′ Aries on 7 April 2016, 04:24 AM PDT is loaded with excitement and urgency as well as potential for making life changing choices. The outer planets all are involved this time with Uranus in Aries conjoining the luminaries, Pluto in Capricorn squaring them and Saturn in Sagittarius adding a note of sanity via a trine.
To say Uranus in Aries is headstrong and independent is an understatement. Conjoining the Sun and Moon means it will be urging us to identify with our most authentic self and how we truly feel about someone or something. There is a clarity and directness to Aries, all amplified by Uranus. As long as we also stay in touch with the knowledge most of us need to get along with our fellow travelers, we can draw on this vivid energy to set priorities and explore new possibilities. Uranus in Aries is also incredibly self centered and wildly rebellious, to the point of throwing away much that is good in our lives just to prove a point or get our way.
We still cannot avoid taking Pluto in Capricorn into account because he isn’t going to let us forget our security issues or the need to feel we are in control of our lives. Authorities are not likely to respond well to what they feel are overt acts of rebellion. The more our obsessions rule us the worse the outcome which is why I keep suggesting the need to do our best to detach ourselves from demanding a specific outcome. Jupiter in Virgo is still hanging in there widely trine Pluto and he may have some good down to earth suggestions to ease matters.
The voice of reason here is Saturn in Sagittarius who is closely trine the Aries Sun and Moon and widely trine Uranus in Aries. He is well placed to gently but firmly guide the Aries stellium away from their most extreme acts of rebellion and counsel them to have patience. Saturn is also closely semi-sextile Pluto in Capricorn and as Capricorn’s ruler may help keep the lid on the worst there too. Stay calm, work through problems one step at a time and focus on simple, workable solutions.
In an odd way, having Mars in Sagittarius squared by Neptune in Pisces may be more helpful than not. Neptune has a way of deflating Mars and reducing his effectiveness to nothing by sending him off to tilt at windmills. We’ll probably see more blustering and posturing than people actually coming to blows. The heated rhetoric flying around is going to be bad enough.
Another odd couple is Venus in Aries closely semi-sextile Mercury in Taurus. This impetuous Venus may be charmed by Mercury in Taurus’s warm, laughing manner . . . excellent for easing tensions. Take in a sunset or enjoy a quiet walk in a park with plenty of sweet smelling flowers to enjoy.
This New Moon in Aries is a mix of endings, beginnings and some outright confusion. It is also the last cardinal lunation with Uranus and Pluto aspecting the luminaries at the same time. We have the Holy Fool (Mars square Neptune) telling us to take a giant leap of faith, Uranus demanding absolute freedom to do whatever and Pluto sternly reminding us to clear away old baggage before starting something new. With cardinal fire, Aries, dominating this lunation chart and no air at all to help us maintain a sense of perspective, we need to consciously choose to practice active listening. Patience, tolerance and kindness never go amiss either.
