Week of July 25, 2016

On the whole the sky is reasonably cooperative this week. Mercury is the center of attention as it passes through the last decan of Leo before entering Virgo on Saturday. Once Mercury enters Virgo, one of the signs it rules, it will remain there until October 7 due to a retrograde period lasting from August 30 to September 21. When Mercury is in Virgo it is usually easier to pay more attention to the details, making it a good time to tackle tedious paperwork.

On Wednesday we will all enjoy a brilliant fire trine between Mercury in Leo and Uranus in Aries. This is fire energy at its best and brightest, willing to inspire great ideas and really fine artistic concepts. Those lucky enough to have personal planets or Ascendant from 23° to 25° in the fire signs, particularly Sagittarius, stand to reap the biggest rewards.

A far less pleasant aspect for Mercury is the square to Mars in Scorpio on Friday. Neither Leo nor Scorpio is good at compromising because as fixed signs their forte is standing their ground. About the best outcome is settling to agree to disagree and wait for the smoke to clear before seeing if there is a better option out there. Mars is close to leaving Scorpio for Sagittarius (August 2). Sagittarius is a mutable sign and as such is more flexible.

Sunday it is Venus in Leo’s turn to be trine Uranus in Aries. We may fall in love at first sight under this influence though it might not last long but the trine suggests it will be fun while it does. This is one time when buying something on a whim may turn out well. It looks like a good hair day too.

Uranus is at a standstill now, preparing to station retrograde on Friday at 24° 30 Aries. Keep in mind Uranus has been sitting at 24° since June 24 and will remain there until September 4, so in my opinion the actual station is rather anticlimactic. Some may notice an increase in tension, especially if you have personal planets in the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) at 24°.

There is nothing like starting the first full week of Leo Season with an Aries Moon who is rearing to get going. With all the fiery momentum, if we do hit a bump or two on Monday we probably won’t even notice because we’re so focused on reaching our goals. The Aries Moon will go void-of-course during the night and it will be Tuesday morning before she slows down after entering Taurus.

One thing the Taurus Moon does is inject a note of calm and after two rather heated days this will be welcome. Tuesday and Wednesday appear to be the days when people will behave in a more level headed manner. The Taurus Moon will square the Leo Sun late Tuesday afternoon and Venus in Leo late Wednesday afternoon, about the time when we want to kick back and relax anyway. One thing Taurus and Leo agree on is how enjoyable relaxing with good food and wine can be.

Wednesday has two trines in earth. The Taurus Moon and Pluto in Capricorn will be trine in the morning followed by a Moon-Jupiter in Virgo trine that evening. This makes Wednesday a good day for tending to the basics at work and home.

Thursday starts off on a grumpy note with the Taurus Moon square Mercury in Leo and then Mars in Scorpio first thing in the morning before going void-of-course until mid-day. Once the Moon shifts into airy Gemini, I am hopeful the mood will lighten up. Gemini and Leo get on quite well and together are very good at getting us to laugh. Enjoy Thursday evening’s good humor while you can. Thursday night the Gemini Moon will trigger the Saturn-Neptune square, with the Moon-Neptune square adding confusion early Friday morning.

Have alternate plans in place Friday because between Uranus in Aries stationing retrograde and the Gemini Moon’s ruler, Mercury, squaring Mars things could get interesting. Unless you enjoy confrontation, steer clear of antagonistic people. It is a very good day to practice kindness and consideration.

The weekend is somewhat calmer in part because the Gemini Moon goes void-of-course early Saturday and meanders along until mid-afternoon before coming home to Cancer. Saturday is when Mercury enters Virgo midday, reducing the drama and turning our attention inwards once more. Rather than going out Saturday evening, a quiet night at home with family may appeal.

Sunday finds the Cancer Moon trine Neptune in Pisces during the morning and she won’t be bothered until late afternoon when she opposes Pluto. Quiet activities centering on the home are favored during the day. The lively Venus-Uranus trine Sunday night may lure some out to party.

If you have business to take care of and contacts to meet with do so the first part of the week. Tensions will gradually increase and peak on Friday before finding release over the weekend. Mercury leaving fixed, dramatic Leo for calm, mutable Virgo on Saturday holds promise for being able to start finding points of compromise. This is one of those times when thinking carefully before speaking would be a good idea, OK?!
