sunflower with bee 7-2016

The biggest milestone this week is Mars FINALLY leaving Scorpio! I know plenty of folks, including myself, who are happy to put this experience behind us. On Tuesday morning shortly before the New Moon in Leo, Mars leaps in Sagittarius and heads down the road. One of the factors that added extra weight to this Mars retrograde was Mars retracing Saturn in Scorpio’s steps. It’s time to extract the wisdom and leave the rest behind.

The Leo New Moon is an interesting one, in part because it marks the start of the transition from a strong fixed sign presence back to a mutable one. Mutable fire dominates the lunation chart so don’t be surprised if this New Moon has Sagittarius overtones. Humor is a good way to defuse tension as is learning to laugh at ourselves.

Mercury already transitioned into mutable Virgo last Saturday, Mars makes his move into mutable Sagittarius on Tuesday and on Friday Venus will leave Leo for mutable Virgo. That gives us six planets in mutable signs and if this feels like déjà vu all over again, it’s because it is. Think back to June when the Sun was in Gemini. Over the weekend, Mercury in Virgo will create a T-Square with Saturn in Sagittarius and Neptune in Pisces. This can trigger Mercury in Virgo’s tendency to lose sight of the big picture and get bogged down in the details with a vengeance. We can end up arguing over really stupid, petty things . . . like politics. Ugh.

The Leo Sun gets caught up with the Saturn-Neptune square early in the week. Monday the Sun is trine Saturn in Sagittarius and Wednesday it is inconjunct Neptune in Pisces. No doubt in my mind Monday’s trine is a far saner influence, wonderful for helping us set reasonable boundaries that reflect our self interests in a positive way. The Sun-Neptune inconjunct is much more troublesome because it can draw really unsavory types into our lives that lie as easily as breathing.

Over the weekend, Venus in Virgo will square Mars in Sagittarius on Saturday. Mars in Sagittarius can be pretty rude and crude when in hot pursuit, something Venus in Virgo may find off-putting. Add in the challenges in communication caused by the mutable T-Square with Mercury and we could end up with social disasters. Stick with people and situations you are very familiar with rather than trying something new and daring.

Other than some crankiness early in the day caused by Uranus in Aries squaring the Cancer Moon, from a lunar perspective Monday looks like smooth sailing. Once the Cancer Moon settles down with some help from a trine to Chiron in Pisces mid-morning and a late afternoon/early evening trine to Mars in Scorpio, we’ll only be dealing with gentle emotional swells rather than choppy seas. The Moon enters Leo for the evening, adding a convivial note to any activities we may have planned.

Tuesday finds the Leo Moon trine Saturn in Sagittarius in the morning shortly before the New Moon. Later in the day things may become less clear with the Leo Moon is inconjunct Neptune in Pisces. Meetings, both personal and business, are far more likely to go well during the morning.

The Leo Moon benefits from an exciting trine to Uranus in Aries Wednesday afternoon though her sweetest aspect is a conjunction with Venus in Leo that night. Even though it is the middle of the work week, we can still be open to some spontaneous fun. Choose a more interesting place to have lunch or suggest going out to dinner with your sweetheart for a change of pace.

The Moon moves into Virgo Wednesday night. Usually the Virgo Moon is a great time for working on projects that require attention to detail. The Moon conjoins Mercury in Virgo during the afternoon and while we may not be very objective if we’re emotionally involved, we should be able to stay on task effectively.

Following an earthy Moon-Pluto trine early Friday morning, the Virgo Moon quietly goes about her own business with no interference. Friday evening she conjoins Jupiter in Virgo before going void-of-course until mid-morning Saturday when she enters equitable Libra. Get any serious business taken care of Friday and forget taking work home because there will be too many distractions over the weekend.

The Libra Moon actually has a decent Saturday with a lively sextile to Mars in Sagittarius that afternoon. She might help maintain some decorum that evening when her ruler, Venus, squares Mars in Sagittarius. If social occasions go well this weekend, it might be due to the Libra Moon’s ability to keep the peace.

Sunday does not go quite as smoothly though it starts off with a nice sextile between the Libra Moon and Saturn in Sagittarius and ends the day with the Leo Sun sextile the Libra Moon. In between she has to put up with an inconjunct to Neptune in Pisces first thing in the morning, leaving us wondering why people can’t just be honest! Then late afternoon the Moon squares Pluto in Capricorn and some may end up muttering about control freaks. Sunday evening could find many wondering what the heck happened.

We start off the week contemplating what we need to weed out of our lives between the balsamic Moon and Mars at 29° Scorpio. That all changes on Tuesday with the Leo New Moon and Mars shifting into Sagittarius and we begin to look forward once more. There is an underlying subtle shift taking place over the course of the week as we add more mutable energy to the mix. Do take care over the weekend when the mutable T-Square with Mercury may have people making all sorts of ill considered assumptions. With no planets in air, we have to work all that much harder to be objective but, believe me, it will be worth it if we can.
