Week of August 15, 2016

It is the electric Full Moon in Aquarius on Thursday that anchors this week. We can either have a fabulous celebrating our uniqueness or squabbling over petty details on this Full Moon. I know what my preference is! Other than that the sky is fairly easy going at this time, always a good thing.

On Tuesday we can all enjoy an exciting trine between the Leo Sun and Uranus in Aries. This is a wonderful aspect for inspiring brilliant visions of how each of us can shine as individuals. Artists, poets, dancers and those in the entertainment industry are going to love this one.

On the surface the trine between Venus in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn on Wednesday may seem rather restrained but underneath there is plenty of passion. This aspect is not only great for adding some zest to our love lives but is excellent for determining the true value of any type of tangible property from real estate to your grandmother’s antique jewelry. Venus in Virgo has a discerning eye and Pluto in Capricorn will not rest until the truth is known. Those lucky enough to have personal planets in Taurus at 15° may enjoy a nice turn of fortune.

An edgier aspect is Mercury in Virgo inconjunct Uranus in Aries on Friday. The last thing Uranus in Aries wants to do is deal with anything that prevents it from doing whatever it wants and having to take time to deal with endless, detailed forms falls in that category. Mercury in Virgo can be very insistent all those have to be filled out correctly. This is a classic Aries-Virgo confrontation and not something most of us wish to get caught up in. Being polite and exercising patience can be very helpful when dealing with this one.

We have another week that begins and ends with the Moon in cardinal signs. She starts off on Monday in industrious Capricorn, ably aided by a trine to Mercury in Virgo midday and an upbeat trine to Jupiter in Virgo that evening. Any crankiness will probably crop up early evening when the Capricorn Moon squares Uranus in Aries. Unless you are undergoing a personal transit from either Pluto in Capricorn or Uranus in Aries, the cardinal crunch effect we lived with for several years has dropped away significantly. We should have few problems getting our work week off to a decent start with few distractions.

Very early Tuesday morning the Moon leaves Capricorn for quirky Aquarius and we have a touch of air in the sky once more. The Aquarius Moon makes no aspects until she teams up with Mars in Sagittarius late afternoon. This suits her independent self just fine and brings out our sense of autonomy too. Going out and about by ourselves will feel good today.

Wednesday is much the same with no major aspects to the Moon until very late Wednesday night when she enjoys a sextile to Uranus in Aries a few hours before Aquarius Full Moon. After that she is void-of-course until mid morning on Thursday when she swims into watery Pisces. So far Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday appear to be quite favorable for going about our normal routines without too much interference.

The Pisces Moon happily floats along all day Thursday all by herself until she runs into an irritating Mars in Sagittarius late Thursday night. The nice thing about this is the Pisces Moon has a calming effect and helps us be more introspective in a positive way. Take some alone time to rejuvenate if possible.

During the wee hours of Friday morning she conjoins Neptune and triggers the Saturn-Neptune square though there may not be much carry over during the day Friday. This is due in part due to a sextile to Pluto in Capricorn midday because Pluto is known for not putting up with any nonsense and feels protective towards the gentle Pisces Moon. Friday evening actually looks good for going out to play, thanks to the Pisces Moon opposing Venus in Virgo. Pisces can generally talk Virgo into loosening up and having a good time.

Early Saturday morning the Pisces Moon goes void-of-course following an opposition to Jupiter in Virgo and won’t enter fiery Aries until Saturday evening. This can make for a laid-back day, much like last Saturday when we can putz around doing whatever and relax for a change. As always the best thing to do when the Moon is void-of-course is to work on existing projects rather than start something new.

Sunday is energized by the Aries Moon starting the day trine Saturn in Sagittarius and my guess is this aspect will be excellent for setting priorities for a well organized day. Those plans may hit some resistance Sunday afternoon when the Aries Moon squares Pluto in Capricorn but it will be brief. Overall we are looking at a weekend that may be much more favorable than the previous two. Enjoy!

On the astro-geeky side, this week we have two days after the Moon changes signs when she makes no aspects for the better part of a day. On Tuesday we get pure Aquarius Moon most of the day and on Thursday it is the Pisces Moon. Last weekend on Sunday we had an unadulterated Capricorn Moon. All of this falls under gathering empirical data for astrologers . . . we have opportunities to observe how the Moon works in these signs with no other influences.

Like it or not, this is the last week of Leo Season before the Sun retreats into Virgo on August 22. We already have plenty of mutable earth on hand with Mercury, Venus and Jupiter in Virgo. All you fire signs out there soak up the last bit of fiery goodness while you can because there is nothing like the Leo Sun for restoring vitality. Have a great week, everyone!
