Week of September 26, 2016

What have we got in store for us this week? Well, let’s see. Pluto stations direct at 14° 55′ Capricorn on Monday, Mars is leaving freewheeling Sagittarius for controlled, focused Capricorn on Tuesday and there is a dynamic New Moon in Libra on Friday. Looks to me like the focus will be on the cardinal signs for a change, which means no more waffling like we experienced when the mutable signs were in charge.

We are blessed with a Sun-Jupiter conjunction at 3° Libra on Monday and the effects will linger through the Libra New Moon on Friday. Warmth, confidence and a spirit of generosity are always present when the Sun conjoins Jupiter. This conjunction strengthens Libra themes of justice, equity and cooperation. One of Libra’s virtues is willingness to compromise, and that is an essential ingredient for lasting relationships of all types. Check to see where Libra falls in your natal chart, and pay attention to that area of your life this week when it is highlighted by the Sun-Jupiter conjunction.

Pluto stations last a long, long time and the only outward sign we might notice is a slight intensification of the ongoing themes already in play. One possibility is the gradual realization some part of your life has changed forever. For example, I will finalize the sale of my parent’s home this week (Pluto is headed towards the final square with my Moon soon). If you have Pluto in Capricorn aspecting your personal planets or Ascendant, you may feel this station more than others will. The best thing about all of this is Pluto won’t return to 14° – 15° again in our lifetimes.

Now Mars entering Capricorn is a good thing. Mars is exalted in Saturn ruled Capricorn, a sign that contains and focuses energy like a laser. This powerful and very effective Mars is hard working and has incredible stamina. Mars will remain in Capricorn from now until November 8-9, depending on your time zone.

The days leading up to a New Moon are always the best for finishing up old business in order to choose a new path ahead. This particular New Moon in Libra is dominated by cardinal signs that are the best at initiating a fresh start. We finally have momentum on our side as well as the ability to recognize a clear way forward.

Over the weekend we have one amazing aspect for enhancing our love lives – a trine between Venus in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces on Saturday. However, I see a couple of Mercury aspects that suggest a need for caution regarding the way we are communicating with our loved ones. Mercury in Virgo opposes Chiron in Pisces Saturday evening, an aspect requiring a delicate touch in order to avoid stepping on sensitive toes. On Sunday Mercury in Virgo makes the final inconjunct to Uranus in Aries, an aspect noted for speaking out of turn. In other words, if you have met someone with whom you feel a deep connection, think long and carefully before saying something that could seriously damage this relationship.

The Moon is in a quieter mood than usual this week, very appropriate for traveling through the Balsamic Phase leading up to the New Moon. In part this is due to Saturn and Neptune gradually separating as well as the increasing distance between Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn. The Moon has time to recover her poise between aspecting the outer planets and that evens out her mood swings (and ours).

An early morning trine between the Leo Moon and Saturn in Sagittarius sets the tone for the day on Monday. It will be shortly after midnight Monday night before the Moon catches up to Uranus in Aries for another invigorating fire trine. After that she goes void-of-course until mid-afternoon/early evening on Tuesday. This gives us almost two full days with the Leo Moon in all her glory which is a wonderful influence for meeting and greeting. Hosting meetings or social gatherings ought to go more smoothly than usual.

Once the Moon enters meticulous Virgo Tuesday afternoon, she will enjoy an invigorating trine to Mars, newly arrived in earthy Capricorn, shortly thereafter. This is a great aspect for all you workaholics out there who are determined to get one more thing done before retiring for the night!

Wednesday is when the Virgo Moon has her monthly exchanges with Neptune in Pisces and Saturn in Sagittarius. She will oppose Neptune mid-morning but it will be more than couple of hours before she squares Saturn. This is enough time for her to find her feet again. By Wednesday evening she will enjoy another trine to Pluto in Capricorn. Other than exercising some caution when it comes to making sure you have all the correct information, we should come through the day in good shape. It helps to have a strong cardinal presence instead of all the mutable planets we had during Virgo Season.

During the night the Virgo Moon will conjoin Mercury before going void-of-course for the entire day on Thursday. The Moon won’t enter Libra until the wee hours Friday morning. Go about your normal business on Thursday but hold off on investing time and energy in new projects until next week. We are deep in the Balsamic Phase now and if we can bring old business to a close cleanly, moving ahead will be all that much easier.

The tone changes significantly on Friday with Libra Moon conjoining Jupiter in the morning before going on to the New Moon late that afternoon. This is good timing because having a weekend to mull over our choices rather than jumping right in is very helpful. Besides, we’re talking Libra here who ALWAYS prefers to carefully consider all options before choosing the best one. 

Saturday does have its edgy moments early in the morning and again late in the night. The Libra Moon squares Pluto in Capricorn early and opposes Uranus in Aries during the night before going void-of-course until Sunday afternoon. Still Saturday does appear favorable for doing things with your partner including spending talking over whatever is on your minds.

Sunday gets off to a slow start and that’s fine. We can use some downtime before preparing for the next work week. Once the Moon slides into Scorpio during the afternoon, our internal dialogue could become more interesting than what’s happening around us. That could change during the evening when the Scorpio Moon is sextile Mars in Capricorn! All you night owls will get a charge from that one!

In many ways this week is better suited for introspection. Pluto stations are curious things and can intensify the need for a deeper understanding of something going on in our lives. Blockages will be not so much removed as obliterated. If you feel the need to spend more time alone, go ahead and figure out how to make that happen. We have decisions to make about our future direction after the New Moon and carefully weighing your options is a necessary part of the process.

Note: Timing is averaged for EDT to PDT.
