Most of the time Libra presents a pleasant, smiling face to the world and it is easy to forget this is a forceful cardinal sign that can compete with the best of them. This week Libra comes up against Capricorn when Mars in Capricorn squares Jupiter in Libra on Wednesday and the Libra Sun squares Pluto in Capricorn on Friday. A typical Libra-Capricorn standoff is fairly civil because both signs usually respect the rules and tend to behave correctly under most circumstances. One thing these squares might do is force Libra to behave decisively . . . shockingly enough.

Tuesday the Libra Sun is sextile Saturn in Sagittarius, one of the better aspects this week. Libra and Sagittarius work well together because both are concerned with seeing justice done in a fair, open way. You might wish to schedule important meetings early in the week to take advantage of this aspect.

The Venus in Scorpio sextile to Pluto in Capricorn on Wednesday is sweet on the surface but do watch out for undercurrents in love affairs. What this aspect is good for is handling money matters with shrewdness and dispatch. If you need to review your investments and make decisions regarding those, this is a favorable time to do so.

Mercury finally leaves Virgo for equitable Libra on Friday, putting its retrograde period behind it. Mercury in Libra favors critical thinking and a rational approach to problem solving. It does like to make sure it has all the facts first but is very good at reviewing those in a fair minded, dispassionate manner. Mercury will be moving along at its usual rate and will only remain in Libra until October 24. This is a good period to schedule meetings, mediations and legal matters where it is important to hear both sides on any given issue.

The Scorpio Moon is on her best behavior Monday starting the day with a flowing trine to Neptune in Pisces, then moving on to conjoin Venus midday before ending her day sextile to Pluto in Capricorn. One thing Scorpio does quite well is listen, and today the Scorpio Moon’s sympathetic side in on display. Not only that but she can help us come up with the answers we need to our deepest, darkest problems. Go for it!

Tuesday is almost as good with only a brief period midday when Uranus in Aries disturbs the Scorpio Moon’s peace. By late afternoon/early evening the Moon makes an understanding sextile to Mercury in Virgo before going void-of-course until the wee hours Wednesday morning. We have two good days where we can work with few interruptions. I’d advise using them well because the tension in the atmosphere increases on Wednesday.

The first half of the day Wednesday the Sagittarius Moon is in excellent humor thanks to a sextile to Jupiter in Libra, and if it was only the Moon we had to deal with things would be fine all day. Unfortunately, this is the day Mars in Capricorn squares Jupiter in Libra and that will bring out some people’s belligerent side.

Overnight on Wednesday the Sagittarius Moon squares Neptune in Pisces and conjoins Saturn but by the time the work day begins, she will be sextile the Libra Sun. This is a great aspect for soothing any ruffled feathers from the day before. This genial aspect will be the last one the Moon makes before a very late night trine to Uranus in Aries after which she will be void-of-course until afternoon on Friday. We have some time to regroup Thursday before running into more tension the next day.

Friday morning we have to contend with a void-of-course Sagittarius Moon which can be restless but without a sense of purpose or direction. Do basic chores or work on easy, routine matters until the Moon enters Capricorn during the afternoon. Once there she will gather up loose ends and get us lined out again. Mercury enters Libra before dawn so the first aspect the Capricorn Moon makes is a square to Mercury late afternoon. Some may not be happy about getting new assignments just before the weekend.

Speaking of the weekend, we may have to resign ourselves to a working weekend with the Capricorn Moon in charge both days. Aspects to the Moon on Saturday definitely favor work over play starting with a Moon-Mars conjunction before dawn. A Moon-Neptune sextile during the morning will ease tensions for awhile and lighten the atmosphere. By evening the Moon conjoins Pluto in Capricorn and refocuses our attention back to our duties.

Early Sunday morning the Capricorn Moon squares Uranus in Aries and I suspect many will rebel against the idea of working then. Since the Moon goes void-of-course after that, we’ll probably feel free to go our own ways for the day. It will be very late Sunday night before the Moon enters Aquarius. This looks like a good day to do something by ourselves rather than coordinate efforts with another.

This week favors taking action on plans made under the Libra New Moon. The strong cardinal presence is perfect for doing instead of dithering. Of course, cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) are going to feel the most comfortable now because they innately know how to initiate action. Most of us probably have plenty of ideas we want to implement and now we can start working on those. Take a page from Libra’s book and smile sweetly while asking the impossible!

Use the first couple of days this week to handle important negotiations because once the energy turns confrontive on Wednesday, coming to an agreement will be much more challenging. Play time may have to be put off for awhile and we need to adjust our mindset accordingly, OK?

Note: Timing is averaged for EDT to PDT.
