Week of November 21, 2016

The Sun rolls into Sagittarius on Monday afternoon and there will be many, many big sighs of relief from the fire and air folk. It will be a much hotter, drier atmosphere and more mutable again with the Sun, Mercury and Saturn in Sagittarius along with Neptune in Pisces. This year Jupiter, Sagittarius’s ruler, is in a sign Sagittarius gets on well with, Libra; unlike last year when Jupiter was in detail oriented Virgo who can drive Sagittarius up the wall.

Mercury in Sagittarius has a run of decent luck this week, starting with a sextile to Jupiter in Libra on Tuesday. And about twenty four hours later, Mercury conjoins Saturn in Sagittarius. Between these two aspects we find a nice balance of optimism based in reality. By the way, those wild ideas generated by last week’s Mercury-Neptune square will have their validity tested. If there is something useful to be gleaned, now is the time for that. Now is also the time when the Neptune station fog begins to lift enough to revel how far off course we are.

Uranus in Aries will be trine Mercury in Sagittarius on Saturday, and that’s a great time to explore new and unusual theories. Who knows? Some of them may prove out in the long run and make some people a lot of money. Just don’t bet the farm on those until they have been tested further, OK?!

Thursday and Friday come with some testy aspects when Jupiter in Libra squares both Venus and Pluto in Capricorn. The Jupiter-Pluto square is the first of three exact squares with the second one on March 30, 2017 and the third on August 4, 2017. If we focus on using the unvarnished truth (Pluto in Capricorn) to uphold equitable solutions (Jupiter in Libra), we stand to make some real progress in resolving old issues, as long as we remember the key is compromise. Since Venus will be conjoining Pluto on Friday and squaring Jupiter, one of the most common relationship issues could emerge . . . arguing over money.

Monday finds the Moon in mutable Virgo and she gets to do her thing all day with no one to bother her. This is a good way to get the week off to a business like start because the Virgo Moon is usually well organized and helps with staying on task. Neptune in Pisces shows up during evening in opposition and may cause her to lose focus but we can handle that. Pour yourself a nice glass of wine and relax!

Get your plans in order first thing Tuesday morning when the Virgo Moon is trine Pluto in Capricorn because once she squares Saturn in Sagittarius later in the morning, she will go void-of-course until mid-day on Wednesday. We should be able to still get plenty accomplished because Virgo’s ruler, Mercury, is well aspected on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Wednesday has an easy feel to it after the Moon moves into peaceful Libra. She and the Sagittarius Sun happily harmonize during the late afternoon, leaving everyone in good humor. Hold on to that feeling because Thursday is more unsettled. For those of us in the USA, Thursday is Thanksgiving and many will be spending time late Wednesday traveling or getting ready for company.

From a lunar perspective, Thursday has mixed messages. The Libra Moon is trine Mars in Aquarius midday, a very nice aspect for bustling about getting Thanksgiving dinner on the table. It is on towards evening when the Moon will square Venus and Pluto in Capricorn and things could get testy. Given the delicate proposition big family gatherings are in the first place, this suggests bickering could break over the smallest thing. Thankfully Jupiter shows up to conjoin the Libra Moon during the evening, so it might be possible to kiss and make up.

Friday the Libra Moon goes void-of-course following an opposition to Uranus in Aries at dawn and won’t reach Scorpio until after midnight Friday night. Given this is the day Venus, Libra’s ruler, conjoins Pluto and squares Jupiter, my guess is disagreements could spring up about how much money to spend while visiting the Black Friday sales. If necessary, set limits ahead of time or hand out gift cards with the message that when those are maxed out, that’s it.

Weekends when the Moon is in Scorpio are usually better for spending quality time with your nearest and dearest or alone. Since the Scorpio Moon will make no aspects until she is trine Neptune in Pisces in the evening, it looks like some peace and quiet is in order. After the contentiousness of the previous couple of days, retreating from the world may sound very good indeed.

This quieter theme continues on Sunday when the Scorpio Moon is sextile Pluto in Capricorn first thing in the morning and then sextile Venus in Capricorn during the afternoon. Express your deep appreciation and affection for your loved ones with actions rather than words. They’ll get the message. The day ends with the Moon void-of-course, making it easier to spend an evening at home preparing for the coming week.

We have time early in week to get our desks cleared before the testier atmosphere hits the second half of the week. This is one of those times when a little forewarning can make a difference. Sometimes we can find a way to defuse the worst before things get too out of hand. If not, well, the weekend looks good for licking wounds and figuring out whether or not we want to make amends. By the way, I do have to mention whenever Pluto is on the field, endings tend to be very final.
