Week of November 28, 2016

‘Tis the season of irrational exuberance! The New Moon in Sagittarius on Tuesday features a square between Neptune in Pisces (irrational) and the Sagittarius Sun and Moon (exuberance). The effects linger because the exact square between the Sun and Neptune occurs on Wednesday. The fog did lift some last week when Mercury conjoined Saturn in Sagittarius but it is back for the first half of this week.

Adding stress to the first part of the week is a square on Tuesday between conventional Venus in Capricorn and extremely unconventional Uranus in Aries. Women in particular may choose to act out their need for independence now. For those who have been forcing themselves to behave according to someone else’s standards, this aspect may provide the necessary push to break free. We may decide to buy something on the spur of the moment, and given the overall lack of clarity early in the week this will probably lead to buyer’s remorse. Be aware you and others could be far more impulsive than usual.

The best thing about the Sagittarius Sun squaring Neptune in Pisces on Wednesday is being able to put it behind us. Those souls who have personal planets and/or Ascendant from 06° to 8° in the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces) may have flashbacks to last summer’s Saturn-Neptune square. There is not a lot of common sense to be had now but a reckoning will come when the Sun catches up to Saturn on December 10. Take a step back from the drama and hold off on making critical choices.

Mars in Aquarius makes two very good aspects this week. The first one is an energizing trine to Jupiter in Libra on Thursday and the second is a solid sextile to Saturn in Sagittarius on Saturday. Both are excellent for making some serious progress on projects in the works. They are also great for tuning up your workout routines and maybe coming up with new and better ways to achieve your fitness goals.

On Friday Mercury transitions from fiery, outspoken Sagittarius to careful, thoughtful Capricorn. This ought to help with the excess of rhetoric floating around recently and get us thinking along more practical lines. It also adds more earth to the atmosphere again, bringing the elements into a better balance. By the way, Mercury will remain in Capricorn from December 2 to February 7, with a brief stay in Sagittarius in early January thanks to a Mercury Retrograde. One thing about Mercury being in pragmatic Capricorn is it will help dispel Neptune fog from earlier in the week.

This week there are long periods of time when the Moon makes no aspects yet isn’t void-of-course. In other words, we get to experience the essence of the Moon in Sagittarius, Capricorn and Aquarius. Check to see where those three signs fall in your natal chart when you are following the Moon this week.

We start Monday with a void-of-course Scorpio Moon who transitions into Sagittarius during the afternoon. This gets the day off to a slow start and even after the Moon enters Sagittarius, getting lined out won’t be easy. The Sagittarius Moon is in a mood of cockeyed optimism going into the New Moon early Tuesday morning, better for theorizing than developing solid plans.

Check out my New Moon in Sagittarius post for Tuesday to get an idea of how easily we can wander off into left field. The Sagittarius Moon squares dreamy Neptune in Pisces in the morning and it will be late in the day when she is sextile Mars in Aquarius. A lively, exuberant feel to the day can be inspiring but figuring out which way to go is something else again.

Wednesday has an edgier feel to it with the Sagittarius Moon trine Uranus in Aries first thing in the morning. She will conjoin Mercury in Sagittarius during the evening. Good day to head off on our own to explore new ideas and new places. Distractions may make it hard to focus on routine tasks today.

Sanity creeps back in the wee hours Thursday morning with the arrival of the Capricorn Moon. Interestingly her first aspect will be a soothing sextile to Neptune in Pisces Thursday evening. The Universe is being kind to us and gently bringing us back to earth this time. The harder facts will have to be faced when the Moon conjoins Pluto first thing Friday morning. Thursday can be a productive day, and that’s good because the pieces dropped in the confusion earlier in the week need putting back into place.

Friday has more pushing and shoving going on since the Capricorn Moon will square Jupiter in Libra midday and then square Uranus in Aries late in the afternoon. If we choose to channel this feisty energy into our work, we may be surprised at how much we’ll get accomplished before heading home for the weekend.

This weekend has a free, open air about it between a void-of-course Capricorn Moon Saturday morning and then the Aquarius Moon arriving midday. She will only make one aspect all weekend, a sextile to the Sagittarius Sun around noon on Sunday. Use the time to catch up around the house or spend time helping out with your favorite charity. Aquarius Moons are wonderful for devoting time to humanitarian efforts of all types. Go to a museum or a drive in the country on Sunday to refresh your mind and heart.

The rush of excitement and drama surrounding the New Moon in Sagittarius gradually dies down over the course of the week. Between Mercury arriving in Capricorn on Friday and a cool Aquarius Moon over the weekend, the atmosphere calms enough for us to sort fact from fiction. The desire to forge something new in our lives is strong but in order to get off on the right foot, we need to verify we’re working with accurate information.
