Week of December 5, 2016

Mist rising from the water

Fire and air heat up the sky this week, happily stirring the pot. For better or worse this week’s sharp, clear edges are going to bring some real eye openers after the past couple of weeks of living with the Neptune fog machine. Mercury is now in cardinal Capricorn who specializes in precise, well organized thinking.

Another inner planet changes signs this week when Venus leaves conservative Capricorn for free thinking Aquarius. Venus and Mars in Aquarius, along with Jupiter in Libra, give us three planets in air. All the elements are represented now though the only planet in water is Neptune in Pisces. Cardinal fire and air dominate the sky, and along with solid input from all the elements we can move forward with more confidence.

Venus and Mars in unconventional Aquarius may lead us into some unique situations where our love lives are concerned. We could meet the most unusual people to fall in love with, though these fun relationships may be fleeting. Aquarius is arguably the most open minded of all the signs with Gemini a close second. The description I like best for Venus and Mars in Aquarius is faithful but not rigid. These two can add spice to committed relationships as well as bring new people into our lives. This situation will last until Mars moves into uber-sensitive Pisces on December 19.

Lighting up our minds and spurring us to take action on Tuesday is Mars in Aquarius sextile Uranus in Aries. Mars-Uranus aspects can leap into high gear at a moment’s notice though we may have a little more time to consider where we want to land with the sextile. This is a good time to be poised to move with at least one or two backup options in mind.

A quiet but creative aspect is Mercury in Capricorn sextile Neptune in Pisces early Saturday morning. This is a great time to focus on remembering your dreams and paying close attention to what burbles up to the conscious mind as we awaken. We might finally make a significant breakthrough in understanding what’s going on in our lives.

The latter part of the week the Sagittarius Sun is in a very good place with three excellent aspects over as many days. On Friday the Sun totally enjoys a sextile to Jupiter in Libra, the perfect combination to envision long term goals. On Saturday, Saturn will conjoin the Sun, just what we need for laying the necessary groundwork needed to achieve those goals, since Saturn is very good at setting priorities and then proceeding step by step. Late Sunday night the Sun is trine Uranus in Aries, getting the following week off to a rambunctious start.

We finish up one lunar cycle and begin another this week. The Moon starts the week in Aquarius and ends it Taurus with the dynamic Aries Moon occurring on Thursday.

Long before dawn on Monday the Aquarius Moon is sextile Uranus in Aries before going void-of-course until late that evening when she slips into sensitive Pisces for the night. A void-of-course Moon on a Monday usually means we get to finish up what didn’t get done last week . . . a necessary evil in most instances.

Starting the day on Tuesday is an introspective sextile between the Pisces Moon and Mercury in Capricorn. I like this one for being able to articulate our feelings in a clear, no nonsense way. During the afternoon we have our monthly Moon-Neptune conjunction. If you can take a brief break to sit quietly and mediate or take a short nap, a solution to a nagging problem may arise from your unconscious mind.

Wednesday is another void-of-course Moon day with the Pisces Moon squaring Saturn in Sagittarius shortly after daybreak. It will be just shy of twenty four hours later when the Moon dashes into fiery Aries. It makes more sense to let events unfold as they will at this time rather than attempting to force things along. Conserve energy now in anticipation of Thursday’s Aries Moon.

An Aries Moon-Venus in Aquarius sextile gets Thursday off to a sweet start with Venus softening the usually aggressive Aries Moon style. The afternoon may end with some petty bickering due to an Aries Moon-Mercury in Capricorn square. We might want to call a truce for the evening in order to enjoy our downtime.

The most lunar action this week takes place on Friday with the Aries Moon jumping from aspect to aspect. The day starts with a square to Pluto in Capricorn, followed by a trine to the Sagittarius Sun, after that is an opposition to Jupiter in Libra and ending the morning is a trine to Saturn in Sagittarius. Whew! During the afternoon the Moon will conjoin Uranus and make a sextile to Mars in Aquarius. Let’s just say Friday will probably be a busy, busy day. It will be hard to slow down at day’s end, so heading out to party for the evening might be in the cards.

It is a Moon in Taurus weekend with Saturday being the best for Christmas parties complete with hot chocolate and Christmas cookies. Taurus loves all the traditional Christmas goodies and sharing them with loved ones. A Taurus Moon-Venus in Aquarius square midday and a Moon-Neptune sextile in the evening are both perfect for lounging about and indulging in treats.

Sunday finds the Taurus Moon in a less comfortable place. She starts the day off with a supportive trine from Pluto in Capricorn but has to put up with interruptions from Jupiter in Libra and the Sagittarius planets midday. It’s like all the people who ruffle her feathers the most decide to drop by and disturb her Sunday routines. She will continue to grumble during the evening when Mars in Aquarius shows to bug her. Enjoy your Saturday . . . 

Overall the atmosphere is positive this week. Cardinal energy is strong from now through the end of the year, and while it’s not the most relaxing influence it is good for making progress on many fronts. We can finally begin to move forward in our lives with a clearer sense of direction now that the Neptune inspired confusion is lifting. Whether we like what we see is another matter and figuring out how to make the best of a bad situation may be the challenge these days.
