Plenty of bright, sparkly holiday spirit surrounds this Full Moon at 22° 26′ Gemini. The Sagittarius Sun and Gemini Moon form a Cradle Pattern with Uranus in Aries and Mars in Aquarius. This opens up potential for expanding our horizons though it may take the upcoming New Moon in practical Capricorn to make it happen. For now we can focus on developing our vision for a better tomorrow.
What keeps this hot air balloon of a Full Moon tethered is the square between Gemini’s ruler, Mercury in Capricorn, and Sagittarius’s ruler, Jupiter in Libra. Mercury’s ties to cold, hard reality are strengthened by conjoining Pluto in Capricorn. The Mercury-Pluto conjunction asks the difficult questions like “how is this going to be paid for?” It is true Jupiter in Libra does understand the importance looking at all sides of an issue and in seeking equitable solutions which usually involve compromise. However Jupiter is still Jupiter who prefers to go big. We can have heated discussions or end up agreeing to disagree under this influence, Libra and Capricorn can keep it civil if they wish.
Another saving grace is the sextile between Jupiter in Libra and Saturn in Sagittarius. This one combines the best of both Saturn’s adherence to duty and responsibility with Jupiter’s spirit of optimism. It helps ease the effects of Saturn conjoining the Sagittarius Sun (and opposing the Gemini Moon) because Jupiter keeps reminding them, and us, to maintain a positive attitude in the face of challenging circumstances.
The Cradle Pattern with the Gemini Moon, Sagittarius Sun, Mars in Aquarius and Uranus in Aries is pure fire and air, full of excitement and ready to blast off at a moment’s notice. What it is short on is common sense. As long as we recognize this and make sure the practicalities are taken into consideration, we can use this amazing energy to fuel bold plans for the future.
Thankfully, Neptune in Pisces plays a minor role on this lunation, unlike the New Moon in Sagittarius. Neptune is sextile Mercury in Capricorn and semi-sextile Venus in Aquarius. I like the Mercury-Neptune sextile for introducing some much needed compassion into hard-headed Mercury in Capricorn’s thinking. We need kindness and tolerance more than ever in our lives.
The semi-sextile between Neptune and Venus in Aquarius is the only aspect Venus makes on this lunation. This one could have some very odd effects on our love lives and our perception of value. It is like Venus in Pisces with a kinky twist. This is one of those times when it might not hurt to run a background check if you sense anything the least bit “off” about a potential lover. Be very careful to do your homework where investments are concerned too.
Have a fun celebrating this Gemini Full Moon! The sheer volume of input may lead to some people feeling overwhelmed, so don’t be afraid to turn down an invitation or three. All too soon the Solstice will arrive and the Sagittarius party will be over for the year. Enjoy!
