We’re on the uphill side of the Solstice and this New Moon at 07° 59′ Capricorn on 28 December 2016 at 10:54 PM PST marks the first step toward the equinox and the return of the light. The Sun, Moon and Mercury form a tight stellium in pragmatic Capricorn sextile Mars conjunct Neptune in Pisces which suggests we have an opportunity to put our spiritual beliefs into practice. If we all take time each day to be kind, patient and tolerant to everyone we come in contact with we can gradually make a profound difference, one drip at a time.
I find it very interesting to note there is a Cradle Pattern in fire and air on this New Moon. There was a Cradle Pattern in the Full Moon in Gemini chart too. Uranus in Aries is present both time but with different planets. On the Gemini Full Moon, the base was the Sun-Moon opposition with Mars in Aquarius sextile Uranus in Aries as the top. Now we have Jupiter in Libra opposite Uranus in Aries combined with Saturn in Sagittarius sextile Venus in Aquarius. Saturn is the key player because as Capricorn’s ruler, he gains in authority. What this says to me is the best path to success is to set clear, achievable goals that are based on compromise as well as innovation and proceed in a careful, step by step manner.
Like it or not, we will probably have to deal with issues stemming from the Uranus-Pluto square years because Pluto in Capricorn does make a wide T-Square with the Jupiter-Uranus opposition. This is a good time to detach ourselves from obsessing over a specific outcome and take a long step back to observe what is revealed at this time. Here again practicing kindness, tolerance and compassion is far better than descending into vicious disagreements that hold little possibility of resolution.
Karma, either instant or long term, is always a factor when Capricorn/Saturn is highlighted like they are on this lunation. That’s why I recommend interacting with others and yourself as consciously as possible. Indulging in reactive behaviors and thinking rather than making thoughtful responses can land us in a world of hurt now. Saturn has a looooong memory, folks!
The elemental balance has shifted in favor of earth and water signs now with a leavening of fire and air. This New Moon in Capricorn is a wonderful time to plant seeds for future growth. Capricorn knows how to nurture those and understands how time is involved. What is set into motion now may take months or years to come to fruition, something not at all uncommon in the natural world. Nut trees can take anywhere from five to ten years to mature to the point they bear fruit.
There is little ambiguity on this New Moon in Capricorn. Mercury is retrograde but it is the midpoint of the retrograde period when Mercury is traveling at its normal rate of speed, albeit in reverse. Neptune in Pisces is behaving well too. We have an opportunity to make intelligent decisions about how we want to proceed in the coming days. The hot air balloon Cradle Pattern is tethered by Saturn enabling us to draw on inspiration based in reality. Of course, with Pluto stirring the pot those who latch on their favorite obsession will probably not budge. Take the long view and do unto others as you would have them do unto you . . . something that never goes out of style, and Capricorn does know timeless style.
