Week of December 26, 2016

Other than the dynamic opposition between Jupiter in Libra and Uranus in Aries on Monday, the rest of week has plenty of Neptune/Pisces overtones harmonizing with Capricorn, and that includes the New Moon in Capricorn. There is a flow this week reminiscent of water flowing around rocks in a small stream, making delightful burbling sounds . . . very soothing to the soul.

Regarding the Jupiter-Uranus opposition, we need to keep in mind the usual strictures when it comes to oppositions. They are always in compatible signs and we can either choose to stress cooperation or confrontation. Aries and Libra can be a very effective team if they work together, and the potential for expanding our opportunities with Jupiter and Uranus aligned in a positive manner is immense. The same can be said for the amount of damage that can be done if they face off. We heard from Saturn in Sagittarius last weekend when he was trine Uranus and hopefully some of Saturn’s common sense is still resonating in the atmosphere.

Helping us find sensible solutions on Monday is Mercury in Capricorn sextile Neptune in Pisces. This is the first of several aspects this week between planets in Capricorn and Pisces. Capricorn brings the practical wherewithal to manifest Pisces’s dreams of making the world a more inclusive, compassionate place. Put together ideas and theories now, and then test them carefully before implementing them.

Tuesday the Capricorn Sun conjoins Mercury and both go on to a sextile to Mars in Pisces on Wednesday. There is something very Zen about the Capricorn-Pisces combination, a “chop wood, carry water” expression of spirituality. If we’re willing to practice this philosophy daily it will not only improve our state of being but others as well.

Depending on your location, the New Moon in Capricorn will occur either late Wednesday night or in the wee hours Thursday morning. Choosing peace and productivity dedicated to the well being of all people is one of the messages this New Moon brings us.

Thursday is when Uranus will station direct at 20° 33′ Aries, still closely trine Saturn in Sagittarius. Once Uranus clears 20° on January 30, 2017 it will spend the remainder of its stay in Aries between 24° and 29° Aries. That means anyone with personal planets or an Ascendant from 20° to 22° in the cardinal signs can breathe a sigh of relief. 

Friday and Saturday bring the last Capricorn-Pisces aspects this week when the Capricorn Sun will be sextile Mars conjunct Neptune in Pisces. Perhaps the sensible Capricorn Sun will be able to convince the rather spacey Mars-Neptune conjunction to behave wisely on New Year’s Eve. Designated drivers or taking a cab home are far better options than driving drunk. Heh, I’ve seen Pisces people drive right by their destination perfectly sober!

It is probably a good thing Monday is a holiday for many people because the Sagittarius Moon is going to have trouble figuring out what end is up. First thing in the morning she will square Mars in Pisces and late in the afternoon is her monthly square to Neptune in Pisces. What makes this more challenging is this is the day Jupiter in Libra opposes Uranus in Aries, adding more fuel to the fire so to speak. Take a few moments to carefully think before speaking, all right?!

Tuesday is far more favorable for taking care of business. The Sagittarius Moon is trine Uranus in Aries, followed by a sextile to Jupiter in Libra before conjoining Saturn in Sagittarius in the afternoon. Later on she will happily dance with her buddy, Venus in Aquarius before going void-of-course overnight. Today rates high on the congeniality scale!

It will be Wednesday when we are firmly reminded that it’s Capricorn Season now because the Moon arrives in earthy Capricorn during the morning, heading towards the New Moon. Before she meets up with the Sun, she will conjoin Mercury and sextile Mars in Pisces. It is an Old Moon day when we need to focus on bringing closure where it is needed in our lives.

We all need time after a lunation to digest the information they bring to the surface and on Thursday we’ll have it. The Capricorn Moon is sextile Neptune in Pisces well before dawn and doesn’t make another aspect until late afternoon/early evening when she conjoins Pluto. The most contentious aspects take place during the night when the Moon squares Uranus and Jupiter in Libra which may make for a restless Thursday night.

Friday the Capricorn Moon is void-of-course the entire day. It will be evening before she glides into Aquarius. Once there she will not make any aspects Sunday morning when the Aquarius Moon will be sextile Uranus in Aries. A good use of our time on Friday would be to clear up any loose ends both for the week and the year.

Saturday is New Year’s Eve with the Aquarius Moon running free and Mars conjunct Neptune in Pisces. This may make for some very unusual adventures on New Year’s Eve. Be careful and make sure you have a safe exit plan in mind if things get too weird.

New Year’s Day finds the Aquarius Moon in very good humor. She starts the day sextile Aquarius’s ruler, Uranus, then enjoys an upbeat trine to Jupiter in Libra mid-morning and makes a sextile to Saturn in Sagittarius about a half hour later. This sets a very pleasant tone for the rest of the day that ends on a high note with the Moon conjoined Venus in Aquarius. Not a bad way to end the Holidays.

The time between Christmas and New Year’s always has a liminal, or transitional, feel to it. Between the midweek New Moon and Mercury being retrograde, the feeling of being a step outside of time is accentuated. Once we are past Monday’s bit of fiery drama and calm begins to seep in, it is time to slow down and spend time in contemplation. Now is not the time to rush ahead but rather consider what happened over the past year and what would we want to do in the coming year. Enjoy the small sweet moments in life this week.

Note: Timing is averaged for EDT to PDT.
