Week of January 23, 2017

Still Winter Sunrise

It is the first full week with the Sun in Aquarius, a sign noted for a cool, rational approach and willing to work for the betterment of humanity as a whole. However we may notice more of a Neptunian influence in play due to aspects to Venus and Neptune in Pisces. It is also the last week Mars will be in Pisces before blasting joyfully into Aries on Friday night. Mars will be super charged in Aries, ready for action!

The first part of the week is when the Pisces/Neptune affect is the strongest. On Monday Mercury in Capricorn will be sextile Neptune in Pisces which is a wonderful aspect for artists, writers and musicians. Being able to translate what we can conceive mentally into works of art is a gift beyond measure. Articulating our dreams is another magical experience. Embrace your creative side!

The Venus-Chiron conjunction in Pisces Tuesday night can bring healing into our hearts and relationships. Forgiveness is a big part of this and forgiving ourselves is a great place to start. No one is perfect after all.

In the hours before the New Moon in Aquarius on Friday, poor Venus in Pisces has to put up with a square to Saturn in Sagittarius. This may be a particularly trying time for those with personal planets and/or Ascendant from 23° to 25° in the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces). Saturn can be very righteous in Sagittarius and full of “thou shalt nots” which can make open hearted Venus in Pisces feel very unappreciated and unloved. Be aware no one is better at doing a vanishing act than Pisces, and harsh judgmental behaviors may result in your lover disappearing into the night.

An interesting note about Mercury in Capricorn is when it conjoins Pluto on Sunday that will mark the end of Mercury’s shadow period. Mercury went retrograde at 15° 08’ Capricorn on December 18, 2016. This is another factor contributing to the strong sense of being free to move ahead after this weekend. The Mercury-Pluto conjunction helps us see deep into the heart of issues we’re dealing with, allowing us to come up with better solutions.

In fact, it will really begin to feel like Aquarius Season following the New Moon in Aquarius on Friday. Aquarius is a future oriented sign, unlike traditional Capricorn. When Mars enters fiery Aries a few hours after the New Moon, he will do his best to propel us forward. Air and fire move into ascendency on the weekend along with an abundance of planets in cardinal signs. Here we go, ready or not!

Waking up on Monday following a square between the Sagittarius Moon and Neptune in Pisces during the night may be slower process than usual. However once this Moon gets rolling, she’ll carry us along just fine. During the evening she will be trine Uranus in Aries and then square Venus in Pisces. This suggests last minute changes in plans and some may head out in search of excitement.

Those who do party on Monday night will have to deal with the consequences early Tuesday morning when the Moon conjoins Saturn in Sagittarius and then squares Mars in Pisces midmorning before going void-of-course until mid to late afternoon. Once the Moon arrives in focused Capricorn, we’ll wake up to the fact we need to get something practical done.

Wednesday is probably the best day for getting to work with few distractions. The Moon’s midday sextile to Neptune in Pisces is wonderful for harnessing our imaginations to a worthy cause. Late in the afternoon/early evening the Moon will conjoin Mercury in Capricorn and our thoughts may take on a more subjective, emotional tone. If you need to meet with colleagues and superiors to discuss the current status with an eye towards the future, today is a good time to do so.

The first half of the day Thursday looks tense with the Capricorn Moon’s monthly square to Uranus in Aries and Jupiter in Libra. The natives will be restless and not inclined to cooperate. The atmosphere improves in the afternoon when the Moon is sextile sweet Venus in Pisces. We seldom go wrong by being kind, tolerant and respectful of other people’s feelings.

By the time Friday morning rolls around, the Moon will be in electric Aquarius and when she conjoins the Sun for the New Moon in Aquarius late afternoon/early evening, it will be the only aspect she makes all day. Focus on completing work on hand and hold off on starting anything new until Monday.

Saturday has an open ended feel to it with the Aquarius Moon dancing to her own drummer until the afternoon when she embraces Uranus in Aries who is sure to come up with more wild and crazy ideas. Saturday evening finds the Moon trine Jupiter in Libra . . . perfect time to get together with like minded people and have a good time.

It is a quiet Sunday since the Moon starts off void-of-course in Aquarius before gliding into soothing Pisces in the morning. She floats alone in Pisces making no aspects until very early Monday morning. For those who need to recover from overdoing it on Saturday, the Pisces Moon provides the perfect atmosphere. Spend some time in quiet contemplation to prepare for the week ahead.

It is important not to forget we are in the Balsamic Phase which precedes the New Moon. We need to be carefully reviewing what we need to have in place in order to get off to a fresh start. In addition, Mars is winding up his stay in Pisces before entering Aries . . . leaving the twelfth sign for the first one. Once he launches in Aries, he won’t be looking back and neither will we. The combination of a New Moon and Mars in Aries is potent. If we don’t have our ducks in a row this week, we could get left far behind!
