Circus Memories by Michael Parkes

It is the last week of Aquarius Season already and the Sun moves into elusive Pisces on Saturday. Until Saturday the celestial atmosphere will continue to be hot and dry, dominated by cardinal fire giving it a decided Aries feel. The need to push ahead will be strong, wonderful for making progress towards our future goals.

Early in the week the Aquarius Sun is sextile stable Saturn in Sagittarius, an excellent aspect for laying out the best path to achieve success down the road. Aquarius excels at seeing the big picture but often neglects the necessary practical steps needed to turn those dreams into reality. Saturn in Sagittarius can help us with that because he is a reliable pathfinder and will be able to nudge the Aquarius Sun back into a more realistic approach.

On Thursday Mercury in Aquarius is sextile Mars in Aries. If we need to ask for something like a raise, this aspect will help us be firmly assertive in a rational, direct manner. The blend of forthright Aries and detached Aquarius manages to warm up Aquarius and tone down Aries, perfect for asserting ourselves. One of my family members is an Aries with Aquarius Rising and a first house Moon in Pisces. She has always been excellent at communicating what she wants in a clear, straightforward way that offends no one . . . a gift my more caustic Mercury/Mars/Ascendant stellium in Scorpio is a tad envious of. 

Once the Sun swims into dreamy Pisces joining Neptune in the twelfth sign, the mist begins to gradually roll in softening the edges of our inner landscape. It will be another week before Mercury arrives in Pisces and when it does the mist may turn into fog, making it harder to keep track of boundaries. More planets in Pisces will be good for introducing much needed compassion and empathy.

It appears it will be afternoon before the pace picks up on Monday, thanks to a void-of-course Virgo Moon. She will go void-of-course following a sluggish square to Saturn in Sagittarius at daybreak, not the best aspect for getting off to a bright, early start. Once the Moon enters cardinal Libra during the afternoon, we’ll perk up and feel more together . . . whether or not we’ll be able to get much done before day’s end is another story.

Tuesday is Valentine’s Day and the Libra Moon will enthusiastically support the tradition of giving candy and flowers to our sweethearts. A midday trine to Mercury in Aquarius will help us find a unique way to express our love and affection. More passionate expressions of affection could result during the evening when the Libra Moon opposes Mars in Aries. Either that or a brief lover’s quarrel could happen with plenty of kissing and making up afterwards.

We may need to brace ourselves for the Libra Moon opposing Uranus in Aries first thing Wednesday morning, prompting the need to go our own way. Thankfully the Moon conjoins Jupiter in Libra a couple hours later, renewing a spirit of cooperation. Two nice aspects during the afternoon smooth the way for the rest of the day. The first is a productive sextile to Saturn in Sagittarius and then a Sun-Moon trine after which she goes void-of-course until late in the night.

Once the Moon enters reserved Scorpio during the night, she will make no aspects all day Thursday. It will be the middle of the night when the Scorpio Moon is trine Neptune in Pisces bringing us sweet dreams. One thing Scorpio Moons are good for is concentration because no one can focus their attention more tightly than Scorpio. This is one of the better days this week to catch up on any backlogged projects, especially if you withdraw into a private space to work.

Allowing ourselves to be drawn into emotional disagreements first thing Friday morning when the Scorpio Moon squares hard headed Mercury in Aquarius will probably land us in a stalemate. Take a step back and wait until the dust settles in order to take advantage of the midday sextile between the Moon and Pluto in Capricorn. That will help us refocus on finishing the work week productively. The Moon will go void-of-course following the sextile to Pluto and won’t enter Sagittarius until midday on Saturday.

The Moon is still in watery Scorpio Saturday morning when the Sun floats into Pisces. We have a brief opportunity to reconnect with our own feelings before the Moon dashes into outgoing, fiery Sagittarius midday, and promptly squares the Pisces Sun. After that the Sagittarius Moon runs free until she enjoys an early Sunday morning trine to her buddy, Venus in Aries. The social scene Saturday evening has a breezy, fun feel to it. Enjoy!

Sunday favors being out and about rather than staying home . . . unless there are sporting events to watch on the TV. During the late morning the Sagittarius Moon will square Neptune in Pisces and we can easily drift off course. As long as we remember not to take ourselves and others too seriously, we can still have a good time the rest of the day.

Overall this week favors working towards our personal goals. The strong fire and air influence is good for bold actions and being assertive will be rewarded. However once the Sun shifts into Pisces the need to be more sensitive to others will become increasing evident, and those who ignored anyone’s needs but their own could hear about it. Being polite, considerate and kind is always a good idea and never goes out of fashion. Have a wonderful time celebrating Valentine’s Day!

Note: Timing is averaged for EDT to PDT.
