Full Moon in Libra, April 10, 2017

There is a great deal of tension in the air on this Full Moon at 21° 33′ Libra on 10 April 2017, 11:08 PM PDT. The remnants of the Uranus-Pluto square flare up again and Libra’s ruler, Venus, is exactly square Saturn in Sagittarius, not exactly calming influences.

The bright spots are tempered but still there on this lunation. The Libra Moon conjoins expansive Jupiter and is widely sextile Saturn in Sagittarius, a pleasant, positive note. We can enjoy emotional stability along with the sense the glass is half full, helping us maintain a positive outlook on life. The Aries Sun conjoins unconventional Uranus and again Saturn is widely trine those two tempering headstrong Aries.

There are a couple of other conjunctions of interest too. One is Mars in Taurus conjoining Ceres and the other is Venus conjunct Chiron in Pisces. Mars plus Ceres in earthy Taurus is all about fruitfulness and nurturance, a true celebration of new growth. This is the “green thumb” aspect and marks an excellent time to start new plants or do some transplanting.

Even though Venus is still retrograde, Pisces is a far more comfortable place for her. She is much more sympathetic and compassionate than she is in Aries. Working in tandem, Venus and Chiron can teach us a great deal about listening with an open heart. A good listener who hears our pain and accepts what we say without judgment is a true gift.

The ongoing square between Venus Rx in Pisces and Saturn in Sagittarius does suggest the need for being dependable and responsible in regards to love and money. It can help us decide whether or not we’re ready to commit to marriage for example. Legally binding agreements in the eyes of the law and society are under Saturn’s purview after all. However it would be wise to wait until Venus is direct and up to speed again to double check to see if this is what both parties really want. The same goes for any major purchases such as buying a home. If all we feel in a few weeks is a sense of duty rather than joyful, then perhaps it would be good to reconsider.

The harsh side of this Full Moon in Libra is the cardinal T-Square the luminaries create with Pluto in Capricorn. However both Jupiter in Libra and Uranus in Aries are only loosely aspecting Pluto now. And the Jupiter-Uranus opposition is sufficiently out of orb to have little impact. It is the luminaries that draw the three outer planets back together and bring the tensions back to the surface. Thankfully this is the last cardinal lunation where Uranus and Pluto are even remotely within orb! Be fair, firm and as patient as possible if you are confronted with controlling people pushing their agendas. Our savior this time is Saturn in Sagittarius because he acts as the voice of reason via a trine to Uranus in Aries.

Both retrograde Mercury at 4° Taurus and Neptune at 13° Pisces are essentially unaspected in this lunation chart. They may still have an impact on our natal charts but have little voice otherwise.

We have a choice on this Full Moon in Libra, especially when it comes to our relationships. It is the nature of Full Moons to focus attention on our one-on-one relationships and in Libra this is accentuated. Jupiter in Libra conjoining the Moon is going to work hard to promote balance and compromise while the Aries Sun-Uranus conjunction focuses on expressing our individuality. Please keep in mind the best relationships are between equals who are as effective as a team or as they are working independently. With Pluto lurking in the background it is very important to limit expectations of a specific outcome as much as possible, and to be as honest as we can be with ourselves and our partners. That being said . . . have a great Full Moon in Libra!
