New Moon in Gemini, May 25, 2017

Shortly after Gemini Season starts, there is a New Moon at 04° 47′ Gemini on 25 May 2017, 12:45 PM PDT. This gives us an opportunity to explore different ideas about what direction we would like to take for the next lunar month. Gemini is enchanted with anything new and different . . . it is boredom this sign loathes.

Gemini’s ruler, Mercury, is in deliberate Taurus now. It is sextile imaginative Neptune in Pisces which may serve to inspire poets and musicians everywhere. However both Mercury and Neptune is inconjunct Jupiter in Libra, creating a Yod with Jupiter at the apex. This can lead to “magical thinking”, producing lots of fluff with very little substance. Be very careful about reading the fine print when it comes to charitable giving because what appears admirable on the surface may be a scam to line the pockets of a few.

One of the more taxing aspects on this lunation is Venus in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn. The only good thing about this unhappy event is Venus moves quickly enough she will leave Pluto behind in short order. Venus-Pluto aspects are noted for painful obsessions leading to jealousy and compulsive behaviors. Money can become a huge issue under this influence for relationships of all types. Strive to stay neutral and steer clear of making important decisions about your financial situation at this time. This will affect those with personal planets and/or Ascendant from 18° to 20° in the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) the most strongly.

On a more cheerful note, Saturn in Sagittarius is still trine Uranus in Aries and both planets aspect that live-wire, Mars in Gemini. Since Mars in Gemini is currently out-of-bounds (see this article for a good explanation Mars Out of Bounds in Gemini and Cancer) he is up for just about anything as long as it sounds exciting. Saturn opposes Mars but this opposition will have less impact than usual. Besides, Uranus in Aries is right there encouraging Mars (and us) to be bold.

The duality Gemini is noted for is apparent on the New Moon. How we choose to work with the energies this New Moon triggers in our natal charts is largely up to us. Often our darkest moments are followed by a breakthrough in awareness that opens up new options for us. Gemini invites us to experiment with all sorts of different ideas in order to find out what excites us the most.
