Full Moon in Capricorn, July 8, 2017

This is one of those times when Love really is the answer, otherwise this Full Moon at 17° 09′ Capricorn on 8 July 2017, 09:07 PM PDT, could turn very dark. The Capricorn Moon conjoins Pluto opposing the Cancer Sun conjoined by Mars with both widely square Jupiter in Libra. The saving grace is Neptune in compassionate Pisces harmoniously aspecting both luminaries.

From the looks of it, we’re going to be facing a resurgence of controlling behaviors driven by security needs with the Moon-Pluto conjunction opposite the Sun-Mars conjunction. We may be tempted to circle the wagons and withdraw into the arms of our personal tribe/family. However Jupiter in Libra will ask us if we are being fair to ourselves and others but in this instance he may meet considerable to resistance to the idea of equity for all. Neptune in Pisces is intent of delivering his message of empathy and compassion which will eventually seep in through the cracks but it may take awhile.

Capricorn’s ruler, Saturn, is part of the closest aspect on this lunation through an inconjunct between Saturn in Sagittarius and Mars in Cancer. Saturn in Sagittarius supports the principles and ideas put forth by Jupiter in Libra, in part because Jupiter rules Sagittarius and in part because Sagittarius almost always chooses to go with the big picture. Unfortunately, Mars in Cancer is not likely to be all that receptive because he feels he is fighting to preserve his family traditions. One thing that might help is realizing most humans, no matter what country they live in (Sagittarius), all want to love and be loved, to be able to feed and clothe their families, and to have a better life for their children (Cancer). If we look deep enough we can find a common thread to follow to a better future.

For those who like to look at the bright side, there is a delightful sextile between outgoing Mercury in Leo and fun-loving Venus in Gemini. This one is all about discussing creative ideas and spending time laughing with our friends . . . perfect for declaring a “time out” from all the serious stuff.

Another good thing is Uranus in Aries sits this one out, at least for those of us who prefer tight orbs. Don’t worry, it will pop back in and stir things up just when you least expect it.

We have serious matters to consider on this Full Moon in Capricorn and the issues raised are not ones we can dismiss easily. We need to take responsibility for ourselves and our lives now. If we do, it is possible to make important adjustments that will allow us to express more of our full potential than before. There is no better time to practice compassion, tolerance and kindness either. Namaste.

Note: Timing is averaged for EDT to PDT.
