Wow! The New Moon at 00° 44′ Leo on 23 July 2017, 02:46 AM PDT roars loudly! The Sun, Moon and Mars are closely conjoined in fiery Leo and ready to put on a big show. Be prepared for plenty of Leo drama and excitement.
Even though the Leo Stellium makes hard aspects to Uranus in Aries and Mercury in Leo by the numbers, all five planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars and Uranus) are all in fire signs. I suspect what we’ll see as a result of the tense aspects is an intensification of fiery spontaneity and general fierceness. People may be more belligerent than usual and willing to fight for their cause. Channeling this magic energy into creative projects is a better option in my opinion.
Mercury in Leo is closely trine Uranus in Aries, great for coming up with brilliant though not particularly practical theories. Another way to put this is there will be enough hot air to launch any number of balloons. 🙂
The waxing square between Jupiter in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn is part of the New Moon landscape. The final exact square between these two at 17° is August 4, 2017. Those who have personal planets and/or Ascendant from 16° to 18° in the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) will notice the bite from this one. The ongoing struggle to define what is fair and equitable in a legal sense keeps running up against the need to stay in control at all costs, particularly by those in positions of power. The veneer of civility both Libra and Capricorn prefer is going to be wearing very thin now.
On a lighter note, cheeky Venus in Gemini is busy on this lunation. She is part of a waning trine to Jupiter in Libra (exact on July 18) and is making a waxing opposition to stern Saturn in Sagittarius (exact July 24). Venus in Gemini loves to circulate and her playful flirtations may have gotten a little out of hand. Saturn is gently but firmly reminding her she needs to tone it down some and respect other people’s committed relationships. In other words, married people are off limits since Saturn rules legally binding relationships!
There is nothing subtle about this flamboyant New Moon in Leo. Fire signs will probably love it but sensitive water folk, not so much. Leo asks us to embrace who we are fully, whether we are quiet and reserved or the complete life of the party. The one caution I have is to be aware passions and tempers are going to be running hot, so please take that into account if you decide to push someone’s buttons . . . the resulting explosion could be far greater than expected. Celebrating this New Moon with a childlike spirit of playfulness will give us more positive outcomes.
Note: Timing is averaged for EDT to PDT.
