Week of August 14, 2017

The first part of the week is on the grumpy side but the atmosphere gradually improves towards the weekend. Mercury in Virgo stationed retrograde last weekend and starts the week at a standstill plus poor Venus in Cancer takes some hits too. Dust off your patience and tact because we’ll need both this week!

Venus in Cancer’s problems are the worst on Tuesday and Wednesday when she creates a cardinal T-Square with Jupiter in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn. The Venus-Pluto opposition on Tuesday could bring heretofore unrecognized control issues to the surface in relationships, and when Venus squares Jupiter late Wednesday matters may be blown all out proportion. This is not a good time to discuss money problems either. Matters probably won’t improve soon either since Venus in Cancer will be inconjunct Saturn in Sagittarius on Friday. If you can, take a long step back and work on improving personal boundaries before attempting to resolve differences with your partner. By the way, Venus in Cancer will be squaring Uranus in Aries on August 24 and that’s when some may be given their walking papers. Take care and practice being as tactful as possible.

Mars in Leo has a bad day on Wednesday when he is inconjunct Pluto in Capricorn but all comes right on Sunday when he is sextile exuberant Jupiter in Libra. The Mars-Pluto inconjunct suggests toning down the pride and arrogance, both of which Mars in Leo is guilty of on occasion. The only caveat about the Mars-Jupiter sextile is to be aware that it is possible to have too much of a good thing.

Sunday finds the Leo Sun celebrating a trine to Uranus in Aries, perfect for spotting brilliant, offbeat solutions. This is the final aspect the Sun will make in Leo before moving on into earthy, meticulous Virgo next week . . . a nice way to end the Sun’s stay in its fiery home sign.

The mood fluctuates on Monday when the Taurus Moon goes from friendly aspects to quarrelsome ones and back. A contentious square to the Taurus Moon from Mars in Leo in the morning bites but it is followed shortly by a sweet sextile Venus in Cancer. A midday trine to powerful Pluto in Capricorn keeps us firmly grounded in reality, something we’ll need to hold on to during the afternoon and evening. After the Moon squares the Leo Sun during the evening, she goes void-of-course for the night. The morning is by far the best for handling routine business matters in a sensible manner. There may be times during the latter half of the day when we’ll need a large dose of patience.

Tuesday is the first of three times when the Moon travels unaspected after she changes signs. The Moon enters curious Gemini first thing in the morning and makes no aspects until before dawn on Wednesday. The Gemini Moon enjoys exploring different ideas but with Mercury newly retrograde it would be wise to stick with non-controversial topics for now.

Our minds may wander Wednesday morning, thanks to an early morning square between the Gemini Moon and Neptune in Pisces. Clarity improves midday and if we’re patient with ourselves and others, we can make progress on our work load after lunch.

First thing Thursday morning the Gemini Moon is sextile Uranus in Aries and then goes void-of-course for a few hours. She happily swims into Cancer midday and will remain unaspected until before dawn on Friday. Cancer Moons tend to increase emotional sensitivity and if we take that into account, we should be fine.

Friday morning the Cancer Moon starts the day with a comfortable trine to Neptune in Pisces, adding an almost psychic awareness of what others are feeling if we are willing to use our emotional IQ. Friday afternoon is not so sweet because the Cancer Moon runs up against first Jupiter in Libra, then Pluto in Capricorn. Be gentle rather than confrontational when dealing with frustrating situations. Thankfully lunar aspects blow over quickly and a late night conjunction with Venus ought to smooth things over.

After the Cancer Moon squares insensitive, abrupt Uranus in Aries Saturday morning, she goes void-of-course until midday. Once the Moon leaps into fiery, outgoing Leo the atmosphere will warm considerably and we’ll be much more in the mood to party. After the Moon enters Leo, she makes no major aspects until Sunday evening when she is sextile Jupiter in Libra. Sunday has two very favorable major aspects (Mars in Leo sextile Jupiter in Libra and the Leo Sun trine Uranus in Aries) as well as a happy Leo Moon. All in all, this looks like a great weekend for social gatherings, sporting events and playing in general.

One thing to remember this week is the last one in Leo Season, and while things may not be all that great the first of the week they do improve substantially by the weekend. Take it easy if you can and postpone critical decisions if possible. Play nice with others and do your best to see the humor in absurd situations. And don’t forget the following week opens with the big show . . . the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Leo!
