Week of October 9, 2017

We have a “rollercoaster” week coming up with two planets changing signs and a mixed bag of aspects. Jupiter shifts into intense Scorpio on Tuesday and Venus dances into her home sign of Libra on Saturday.

It is a big deal when Jupiter changes signs. He spends about a year in each sign which means it’s been about twelve years since Jupiter was last in Scorpio (late October 2005 to late November 2006). The nice thing about Jupiter being in watery Scorpio is he will get on well with Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn as well as Neptune in Pisces. Jupiter in Scorpio will hunt down the truth no matter what with little to no tolerance for excuses. This should prove to be a good year to get our financial matters in order with pragmatic choices favored over idealistic ones.

Venus is overjoyed to reach Libra! She loves being in her home sign who prefers to keep it light and easy. Venus in Libra is a touch on the formal side, very gracious and appreciative of beauty. She will abide in Libra until November 7.

Words matter this week with Mercury in Libra under pressure from Pluto in Capricorn on Monday and Uranus in Aries on Sunday with a break on Thursday when Mercury is happily sextile Saturn in Sagittarius. Mercury in Libra encourages us to talk things out but that probably won’t go well at the beginning and end of this week. Our best bet for being able to make decent compromises is on Thursday. Otherwise we’ll either get caught up in power struggles and/or risk people walking away in a huff. Libra-Capricorn disagreements can be icily polite but Libra-Aries usually end up with Libra dithering driving Aries into yelling . . . loudly.

The Libra Sun will square Pluto in Capricorn on Monday as well. We may see a resurgence of familiar themes with Libra’s desire to see everyone treated fairly running afoul of Pluto in Capricorn’s need to maintain total control, regardless of the resulting damage.

And we can’t forget Mars in Virgo squaring Saturn in Sagittarius on Wednesday. One way to manage this one is to avoid shortcuts, work steadily with careful attention to detail even if it feels like no one cares. Praise tends to come long after the fact when Saturn is present. Feeling intensely frustrated is often the case with Mars-Saturn hard aspects though mature individuals usually handle this better. This square will affect those with personal planets and/or Ascendant from 21° to 23° in the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces).

We start the week with a Gemini Moon who rarely finds her comfort zone even though she has the airy Libra Sun and Mercury for company. On Monday she loses her way thanks to a midday square to Neptune in Pisces, clouding our ability to translate our feelings into words. Since Monday also features the Libra Sun and Mercury squaring Pluto in Capricorn, it might be a good time to keep our opinions to our selves.

Tuesday isn’t much better for the Gemini Moon because she spends the day as part of a Mutable T-Square with Saturn in Sagittarius plus Mars and Venus in Virgo. It won’t be until late afternoon/early evening when she enjoys a sextile to Uranus in Aries before going void-of-course. Once the Moon slides into Cancer during the evening she moves into Jupiter in Scorpio’s embrace, ending the day on a quietly positive note. All in all, we have a couple of days where it could seem like we only have moments of feeling in sync with others.

Wednesday and Thursday give us a taste of what’s coming once the Sun moves into Scorpio because water and earth signs dominate the sky both days. The Cancer Moon aligns harmoniously with Neptune in Pisces late in the afternoon on Wednesday, the only aspect she makes all day. It’s time to practice using our emotional intelligence and intuition in order to not miss important cues when interacting with others. If in doubt, always use your company manners . . . the Libra Sun and Mercury will approve!

Missteps Thursday morning may be the result of not paying close enough attention to emotional nuances, brought to our attention by the Cancer Moon squaring the Sun and Mercury in Libra. The Cancer Moon’s mood improves after midday when she is sextile Mars in Virgo but it sours during the evening when she squares Uranus in Aries. Tread lightly and treat others with courtesy and respect if you wish to make progress today.

The mood lightens considerably on Friday after the Moon moves into fiery, outgoing Leo during the night and makes no major aspects after squaring Jupiter in Scorpio shortly after midnight until late Saturday afternoon. The Leo Moon brings the elements back into balance which makes the Libra Sun far more comfortable. Use this more upbeat energy to end the work week on a positive note. Meetings are favored and we should be able to reach decent agreements with coworkers and colleagues.

Saturday is by far the best day for social activities of all types. The expansive Leo Moon enjoys a sextile the Libra Sun midday and is steadied by a trine to Saturn in Sagittarius during the evening. Adding a nice touch to the day is Venus newly arrived in Libra. It is perfect for appreciating the beautiful things in life. Enjoy!

The mood is far quieter on Sunday with the Moon shifting into reserved Virgo first thing in the morning followed shortly by a sextile to Jupiter in Scorpio. This looks like the perfect day to take a look at budgets, balance checkbooks and generally review household expenditures. Yes, not exactly exciting but essential for keeping our daily lives running smoothly. Sunday is also a good day to regroup and prepare for the week ahead.

This is one of those weeks when we need to give ourselves time to adjust to the changes instead of pushing through like nothing is different. Jupiter moving into fixed Scorpio steadies the atmosphere and that should help us through this transition period. Take time on the weekend to relax and unwind with friends and family.

Note: Timing is averaged for EDT to PDT.

  1. I’m looking forward to Jupiter moving into Scorpio tomorrow — for my Jupiter Return! And glad that Mars moved off my Sun and square Saturn. Jupiter will keep going into my 4th – not planning any moves or expansions, but maybe just happily seeing to my private life. I guess you have your own Jupiter Return coming up! Hope Jupiter on your Sun has been enjoyable. 🙂

    • Having Jupiter conj my Sun has been a mixed blessing. LOL It has been good for energy levels but I find it necessary to maintain as positive an attitude as possible because Jupiter also intensifies mood swings.

Enjoy your Jupiter Return! Mine is in early November and I’m looking forward to it. 🙂

      xoxo diane~
