This New Moon at 26° 31′ Sagittarius on 17 December 2017, 10:30PM PST is the last big hurrah of fiery energy this year and for some time to come. The Sun and Moon create a stellium in late Sagittarius with Saturn and Venus with those four trine Uranus in fiery Aries. Retrograde Mercury in Sagittarius isn’t quite close enough to be within orb but it adds a sixth planet in fire. At this moment in time we may believe the sky’s the limit but I wouldn’t bet the farm on it. By Christmas Eve the Sun, Venus and Saturn are all going to have rolled over into earthy Capricorn, bringing the Sagittarius party to an end.
One thing we can do to take advantage of this exciting New Moon is use this energy to develop a wide variety of plans for the future, all the while being aware those will need to be heavily revised before implementing. The Sagittarius Stellium trine brilliant Uranus in Aries is the perfect vehicle for generating creative theories because that combo sees no limits. Once Mercury stations direct on December 22 at 13° 00′ Sagittarius we can SLOWLY begin the re-evaluation process to determine what is workable and what is not.
Sagittarius’s ruler, Jupiter in Scorpio, is active on this lunation too. Jupiter is semi-sextile retrograde Mercury in Sagittarius, is making a waxing sextile to Pluto in Capricorn and a waning trine to Neptune in Pisces.
The Jupiter-Mercury aspect may not be all that helpful because insignificant facts could be blown all out of proportion, while truly important information might be ignored. Whenever Mercury is retrograde, the possibility of having to re-think matters after it goes direct is high.
The waxing sextile between Jupiter and Pluto is heartening. Not much gets by either Jupiter in eagle eyed Scorpio or Pluto in careful Capricorn, and working together they can aid us in building a solid foundation for future endeavors. The waning Jupiter-Neptune trine still adds a sympathetic overlay if we’re willing to tune into it.
At this time, Mars in Scorpio is playing his cards close to his chest. He makes no aspects and is therefore free to follow his own path.
If there is a slight aura of desperation to the party atmosphere of this New Moon in Sagittarius, it’s probably due to Saturn at 29° Sagittarius. At some level many of us are aware a phase in our lives is coming to a close and we are in the process of accepting that reality. Why not go ahead and embrace this last rush of conviviality . . . there is nothing wrong with enjoying some R&R before we have buckle down and get back into work mode. Enjoy!
