Week of December 25, 2017

The atmosphere this week is on the solemn side with four planets residing in Capricorn now: the Sun, Venus, Saturn and Pluto. On the plus side, Mercury is now direct in Sagittarius and will gradually pick up speed over the course of the week. There are only a couple of major aspects which leaves the Moon to set the pace.

Christmas Day may not be all that jolly, thanks to Venus conjoining Saturn at 0° 39′ Capricorn. Venus in Capricorn is not exactly ebullient and conjoining somber Saturn makes her even more serious. However this combination does inspire great loyalty and a deep sense of commitment. One thing to watch out for when it comes to relationships at this time is allowing security needs to take precedence over love.

An easier aspect to live with is Mars in Scorpio trine Neptune in Pisces on Wednesday. If we can find a moment of quiet and tune into our inner voice, this surprisingly powerful aspect can help us find the best path to take to achieve our dreams. It may be a circuitous route rather than a straight forward one since water flows around obstacles rather than walking over them.

The aimless feeling on Christmas morning could be due in part to a void-of-course Pisces Moon. It is conducive to quietly hanging out, opening gifts and visiting with family. When the Moon dashes into fiery Aries late afternoon/early evening, she squares the Venus-Saturn conjunction in Capricorn and that may contribute to general crankiness.

For those traveling home on Tuesday or heading back to work, the Aries Moon can help get us out the door and motivating again. As long as we don’t get too pushy about wanting it all our way, we can use this bright, busy energy to get back in the swing of things.

Wednesday favors working alone with an Aries Moon-Uranus conjunction happening midday before the Moon goes void-of-course until the middle of the night. We’ll have better results if we stick with routine tasks even though we might be itching to start something new.

The best day this week for being productive is Thursday with the Taurus Moon joining the other planets in earth: the Capricorn Sun, Venus, Saturn and Pluto. This gives us five planets in earth. It is a good time to set plans in motion as long as those favor a pragmatic, practical approach. Flights of fancy or anything avant garde are not going to get any traction at all.

Friday finds the Taurus Moon void-of-course from early morning onwards. The Moon won’t enter airy Gemini until after midnight on Saturday. Taurus Moons are well grounded enough they don’t seem to be as affected by being void-of-course. That means we can still use our time wisely, especially if we have matters that need closing out by year’s end.

The Gemini Moon will have an uphill battle injecting some fun into the final weekend of 2017 but she will do her best! Don’t be surprised if people have a hard time getting into a party mood on Saturday. Sunday looks more promising for New Year’s Eve celebrations because the last aspect the Gemini Moon makes during the late afternoon before going void-of-course is a lively sextile to Uranus in Aries. Nonetheless, it might feel like people are trying too hard to have good time. Relax and let things unfold as they will.

From now until the middle of January, we are going to be living with a preponderance of planets in cardinal earth, something earth sign folk are going to be quite comfortable with. After all, this aligns nicely with their sense of priorities. Water signs will be fine too. It is fire and air folk who will likely be frustrated. Air signs could mutter about a lack of objectivity and fire signs may feel they are being ignored. For now we might as well get used to putting practical concerns first. Another thing we can focus on is laying solid foundations for our long term goals.

I want to wish everyone a blessed Christmas and much happiness in the coming year!
