Perception matters on the Full Moon at 11° 38′ Cancer 1 January 2018, 6:25 PM PST. Whether we feel like we’re wading through deep mud or seeing a wonderfully fertile environment for planting new seeds, is up to each of us. This lunation is heavily weighted to earth and water with only two planets in fire . . . and nothing in air.
It wouldn’t hurt to work (Capricorn) on improving our Emotional IQ (Cancer) at this time. Fortunately for us there is a wide Grand Trine in water with the Cancer Moon, Mars in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces, perfect for tuning into our intuitive side. Not only that but the Capricorn Sun-Venus conjunction turns the Grand Trine into a Kite Pattern, providing just the right amount of earth to keep things real. The first thing many of us need to do is make time to meet with the important people in our lives in person. A critical factor for good communication is learning to understand non-verbal cues, and that is best done face to face.
Mars in Scorpio is making a waxing conjunction with Jupiter (exact on January 6 at 17° 55′ Scorpio). Now is the time to put in some serious effort into making our dreams a reality. We can draw on Scorpio’s famed tenacity to keep plugging away whilst adding a big dose of Jupiter inspired luck which allows us to make real progress towards achieving our goals.
The waxing sextile between Jupiter and Pluto (exact on January 15 at 19°) has great potential for creating positive change. The catch is those solutions must be the most pragmatic, practical ones available, and everyone needs to know exactly how those will be financed. There will be no “borrowing from Peter to pay Paul” or other hinky means to come up with the funding. Jupiter in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn are both very good at spotting inconsistencies when it comes to money.
Interestingly, Mercury in Sagittarius is sitting semi-sextile between Jupiter in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn. Mercury in Sagittarius is a great salesperson but it has more than met its match in those two planets. A little enthusiasm is a good thing but unless backed up with accurate information, it won’t be enough to sell your products or ideas.
On the side of things to be thankful for, Saturn in Capricorn and Uranus in Aries are both present but unaspected. These two will have the greatest impact on those with personal planets and/or Ascendant in the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn). Saturn is bearing down on 0° to 3°, and Uranus affects from 23° to 25°. Saturn is busy teaching lessons in delayed gratification and behaving responsibly while Uranus tells us we must always stay true to ourselves.
Family relationships, particularly with parents, are always highlighted under the Full Moon in Cancer. Since this lunation comes right on the heels of the holiday season, this is a good opportunity to take a fresh look at those relationships. Whenever Capricorn is in ascendance, manners are important and a good tool for interacting with others respectfully. We can be grateful Neptune in Pisces is encouraging everyone to behave with compassion and kindness . . . neither of which ever go out of fashion. This is a wonderful opportunity to open our hearts to those closest to us. Peace to all.
