There is plenty of excitement bubbling up on this New Moon Solar Eclipse at 27° 08′ Aquarius on 15 February 2018, 01:06 PM PST. The Aquarius Sun, Moon and Mercury stellium is closely sextile Uranus, Aquarius’s ruler, adding to Aquarius’s ability to think outside the box and generally stirring the pot.
Pushing things even further out in left field is Jupiter in Scorpio who squares the Aquarius stellium and is inconjunct Uranus in Aries. Prudence and caution will probably be in short supply and it will be easy to blow things all out of proportion. It is a good time to make an effort to plan carefully for all contingencies and stay within budget. If we don’t, then despite the sheer brilliance of our ideas we could still fall short.
Making it difficult to see a clear path of action on this lunation is Mars in restless Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces. This particular Mars-Neptune square is especially prone to pursuing completely unrealistic goals and thinking in terms of noble sacrifice for a glorious cause . . . wince. Those who have personal planets and/or Ascendant in the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces) from 11° to 14° could go back and forth between pronounced restlessness and severe lethargy.
Since it seldom pays to overlook Pluto in Capricorn, it is important to note the sextile between shrewd Jupiter in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn is still in effect. This aspect will help bring some common sense to the table for those inclined to listen to reason. The other aspect promoting strong, sensible values is Venus in Pisces sextile Saturn in Capricorn. The Venus-Saturn sextile is also great for helping keep our feet on the ground when it comes to love and romance.
One thing we do need to keep in mind is to take our sweet time to absorb what this lunation has to teach us. In fact we might want to wait until Aries season arrives before moving forward in earnest, because first we’ll need to swim through the Pisces ocean with all its flotsam and jetsam. Eclipses tend to bring huge info dumps as well as challenging situations to survive, and Pisces Season is the perfect time to slowly allow the information to sink in for processing.
There is a feeling of randomness to this New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aquarius with various elements seemingly at odds with each other. Only by taking many long steps back in order to achieve the highest perspective possible, can we hope to make sense of what’s going on. All the pieces are here if we can put them together in a way that makes sense to us as individuals. Aquarius celebrates uniqueness and now is a wonderful time to use that to our advantage and focus on being true to ourselves. Take care!
