New Moon in Pisces, March 17, 2018

In many ways, this New Moon at 26° 53′ Pisces on 17 March 2018, 06:12 AM PDT is the “same song, second verse” of the recent Full Moon in Virgo. We still need to focus on clearing up old business before moving on to something new. There is a tendency in our fast paced world to blindly rush ahead without making a clean ending. Most of us end up weighed down by unfinished business, not a good thing.

On the Virgo Full Moon, it was Mercury and Venus in Pisces who were caught between Mars in Sagittarius, Jupiter in Scorpio, Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn. This time it is the luminaries in the line of fire. A big difference is all the aspects are waning, or fading into the past as it were. The tightest aspect is the semi-sextile to irritating Uranus in Aries, distilling the need to push forward with no regard for cleaning up our past messes. The waning square to Mars in Sagittarius only intensifies this struggle. Thankfully, both Jupiter in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn are working hard to keep us focused on clearing up old issues. What we need to keep firmly in mind is how much easier it is to move forward if we aren’t dragging all our old garbage along.

The trine between Mars in Sagittarius and Uranus in Aries is fading now. When Mars moves into earthy Capricorn shortly after the New Moon, his energy will align nicely with the planets in earth and water signs and improve our ability to work effectively.

Saturn in Capricorn makes waning squares to Mercury and Venus in Aries which is excellent for keeping our worst impulses in check. Mercury in Aries seriously needs to think before speaking, and Venus in Aries can use help to keep for making rash choices about love and money.

There is one minor waxing aspect . . . Venus and Mercury in Aries both are semi-sextile Neptune in Pisces. This is not going to help with those rash decisions about love and money! Nor is it good for clear, careful thinking. As is often the case, when we need patience the most, it is hardest to come by.

The time has come on this New Moon in Pisces to learn new methods for making clear, clean endings. As the twelfth sign, Pisces has an excellent intuitive feel for how to do this because that is one of Pisces’s jobs. After all, we want to be ready to leap into action when the Sun moves into fiery Aries on March 20, and we won’t be unless we get serious about finishing old business first. No more procrastinating!
