Week of April 9, 2018

The countdown to the New Moon in Aries happens this week at the same time Mercury in Aries slows to station direct, with both events happening on Sunday. Needless to say, this is not a good time to get in a big hurry! Once we get past an argumentative Aries Sun-Pluto in Capricorn square on Tuesday, the energy smoothes out nicely and we can enjoy several creative aspects.

Nothing like a cardinal square, especially between assertive Aries and strong minded Capricorn, to create potential for confrontations. Those of you who have personal planets and/or Ascendant from 20° to 22° in the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) could get drawn into combative mode. Sometimes it is important to take a stand, especially when it comes to setting firm boundaries, and this energy can help us do so.

Once that temporary tempest is out the way, Venus in Taurus steps up to kiss our booboos and make them better. Tuesday night Venus will be trine Mars in Capricorn, perfect for kissing and making up. While this earthy duo may not be long on words, they excel at non-verbal expressions of affection like wonderful hugs. This theme continues on Thursday when Venus in Taurus will be sextile Neptune in Pisces. It might be fun to have a romantic evening for two even though it is a week night.

On Saturday, we have two more great aspects: Mars in Capricorn sextile Neptune in Pisces and the second Jupiter in Scorpio-Pluto in Capricorn sextile. The Mars-Neptune sextile is perfect for taking creative ventures to the next step or for taking concrete action to help those in need. Well organized Mars in Capricorn can help manifest compassionate but rather spacey Neptune in Pisces dreams.

Gotta love the Jupiter-Pluto sextile! We need its shrewdness right now when it comes to investments because of the extreme volatility in the financial markets. Scorpio and Capricorn both have a good sense of how things work behind the scenes and excel at doing the necessary research needed before making decisions. This sextile may help us stay cool under pressure when it comes to buying and selling.

As for the New Moon in Aries plus the Mercury station this weekend . . . the hardest part will be not jumping the gun. Both events require a large dose of patience. The Sun-Moon-Uranus conjunction in Aries screams at us to dash off immediately, plan or no plan. And Mercury in Aries is always quick on the draw but until it gets back up to speed late next week, there could be one minor delay after another. Rather than focusing on the future this weekend, distract the mind with fun physical activities of some kind.

Luna has an easy week for a change, and we benefit from less emotional turmoil. The Moon starts her week in Aquarius, giving us two and half days of air happily feeding the Aries fire. Monday through midday Wednesday are the best days this week to meet with people because our thinking will be clearer and we’ll be more interested in coordinating with others. This will make it easier to plan how to work around Mercury in Aries slowing to station on Sunday as well as moving into the dark of the Moon.

The Aquarius Moon goes void-of-course early Wednesday morning following an energizing sextile to Uranus in Aries which should give us enough of a boost to last until the Moon glides into Pisces midday. Once the Moon is in retiring Pisces our attention will naturally turn inwards. Thursday finds the Pisces Moon in a very good place harmonizing with Saturn, Mars, Neptune and Venus. If we find a quiet place to work, we’ll probably accomplish more. Creativity flourishes under the Pisces Moon as does working with plants and animals.

Friday finds the Pisces Moon going void-of-course at dawn and it will be late evening before the Moon shifts into fiery Aries for the weekend. This is a far better day to work on routine matters and tidy up loose ends left over from earlier in the week. Overall the atmosphere from midday Wednesday through Friday night favors introspection.

The energy over the weekend condenses the ‘push-pull’ vibe we’ve experienced for the past few weeks. Saturday is somewhat less stressful but with Mercury stationing direct plus the New Moon in Aries on Sunday, the need to get moving NOW stalls out time and again . . . especially frustrating for active fire signs. Temper impulsiveness as much as possible. It might help to do simple, strenuous physical work to alleviate tension.

This is one of those times when astrology can help us work with the prevailing energy to good effect. Our mental gears will work best the first of the week but we’ll need to draw more on our intuition as the week progresses. Patience is the best option for the weekend with the excitement generated by the New Moon in Aries facing off with a stalled out Mercury. Plan carefully and always choose to be kind.
