Week of April 30, 2018

We have some breathing space this week, for which we all should be grateful. The sky is much quieter than it has been with only two inconjuncts and one lovely sextile. It is a good time to focus on personal matters that may have been overlooked recently. If possible take time for rest and relaxation.

Tuesday Venus in Gemini will be inconjunct Saturn in Capricorn, not a good situation for this bright, cheerful Venus. Venus in Gemini may be a little flighty but she does make us smile at her antics. The problem is Capricorn doesn’t really understand Gemini. Reserved, rather stuffy Capricorn often feels Gemini is light-minded and frivolous. We can still have fun under this influence as long as we use our company manners and don’t flirt with the wrong people.

The inconjunct between Mercury in Aries and Jupiter in Scorpio is a very different animal. Aries and Scorpio are both Mars ruled signs and as such do have a measure of respect between them. Mercury in Aries does tend to suffer from tunnel vision and is inclined to express opinions forcefully before thinking of all the ramifications. If Jupiter wasn’t in close mouthed Scorpio, things could really get out of hand. We may find ourselves speaking up for ourselves more than we do would usually . . . which is not necessarily a bad thing. Do take extra care to double checks facts before speaking, OK?!

The best influence this week is the Taurus Sun sextile Neptune in Pisces on Sunday. It is wonderfully fertile energy, perfect for working in the garden or taking in Nature’s beauties. It can inspire us to make music, dance and express our creativity in many ways. This is a very compassionate, nurturing energy and perfect for tangible expressions of love.

Now that Uranus is at 29° Aries until May 15, we may need to come to terms with the fact there will be no more ‘do overs’, and the spotlight is leaving Aries. Those of us who have our Sun, Moon or Ascendant at 29° in any sign natally spend our lives learning how this works, often the hard way. Usually the only option is to move forward. Everyone will get a sharp taste of this when both Uranus and Mars change signs within a few hours of each other on May 15. Uranus moves into Taurus and Mars into Aquarius. The move from cardinal to fixed signs emphasizes this change even more.

The lunar week flows along nicely until the weekend, keeping mood swings to a minimum for most of us. The Moon travels through Scorpio, Sagittarius and Capricorn this week with the shift into airy Aquarius coming very late Sunday evening.

Earth and water energy strongly flavors Monday with the Scorpio Moon happily aspecting Neptune in Pisces, Jupiter in Scorpio as well as Mars and Pluto in Capricorn. We’ll accomplish more if we use our emotional intelligence and intuition for guidance. Working alone or with trusted colleagues is a better option than engaging in group activities.

The atmosphere brightens on Tuesday when the dashing Sagittarius Moon comes on board midday. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are all more favorable for gatherings of any kind. For those doing presentations, adding a touch of humor ought to work well for getting your message across, especially on Wednesday. This pleasant, easy going vibe lasts until early evening on Thursday when the Moon marches into earthy Capricorn.

The workaday energy dominates on Friday with the Capricorn Moon conjoining Saturn during the afternoon. With earth signs clearly in charge of the day’s agenda, people will respond better to a more formal, structured approach. Use this well grounded energy to finish up any outstanding projects in an orderly manner.

The Moon will be in Capricorn until very late Sunday evening, not exactly great for throwing extravagant parties or clubbing all night. We may as well go with the flow and stay in work mode for the weekend. Working alone may be best since the Capricorn Moon will be squaring Mercury in Aries on Saturday and squaring Uranus in Aries Sunday morning. Community work projects such as cleaning up parks or planting a garden would be good ways to channel the practical, industrious earthy energy. Sunday will be the quieter of the two days since the Capricorn Moon goes void-of-course fairly early in the morning. This is a good weekend for setting priorities first thing Saturday morning and working down our ‘to do’ list one item at a time.

Learning to slow down and move at a more leisurely pace is very much a Taurus thing. Taking on too much is very common in our fast paced world and oh so stressful. When the Universe gives us some breathing space, the smart thing to do is do just that . . . breathe. We’ll be back in the thick of things again next week.
